Carrie Underwood Supports Gay Marriage
US Magazine ^ | June 11, 2012 | Nicole Eggenberger

Posted on 06/11/2012 3:07:58 PM PDT by Pinkbell

It may come as a surprise to some of her fans, but Carrie Underwood has announced her support for gay marriage.

The devoutly Christian "Jesus, Take the Wheel" country singer spoke out to The Independent on why she believes marriage should be legal for all.

"As a married person myself, I don't know what it's like to be told I can't marry somebody I love, and want to marry," Underwood, 29, explained. "I can't imagine how that must feel. I definitely think we should all have the right to love, and love publicly, the people that we want to love."

The American Idol winner was raised in a Baptist church, but now attends a non-denominational church with her hockey player husband, Mike Fisher.

"Our church is gay friendly," she said. "Above all, God wanted us to love others. It's not about setting rules, or [saying] 'everyone has to be like me'. No. We're all different. That's what makes us special. We have to love each other and get on with each other. It's not up to me to judge anybody."

And the Christian star from Oklahoma doesn't agree with "people who use the Bible for hate."

"That's not how I would want myself as a Christian to be represented."

I think in the C&W world, everyone says they’re Christian whether they are in reality or not because it’s expected in the atmosphere of Southern culture.

You are absolutely right. Unfortunately, very few of them are actually Christians.

There’s always a contradiction there. It’s not ok to be intolerant and judge...unles you are intolerant of and judging people who are deemed intolerant. Then it’s ok.

Yes, love the sinner, but not the sin.

“Our church is gay friendly”

Meaning what? That you invite them in, lie to them, coddle their sin, tell them what they’re doing is fine with God, and in the process help condemn their souls to hell? Not very FRIENDLY, if you ask me.

As a declining “celebrity” perhaps she needs invites to -A- list hollywood snort fests to stay relevant. Supporting the homo agenda is THE password to get acceptance. Like they say, no such thing as bad publicity in show business...just call it, hobnobbing with the cobnobbers.

I watched that show once or possibly twice, I think, and only because Mr. T. knew someone whose granddaughter was a contestant. I really don’t care for that kind of thing.

It’s what Dietrich Bonhoeffer called “cheap grace” that is so common today. (See Bonhoeffer’s book, “The Cost of Discipleship”.

Big deal. She's a woman and woman tend to be sensitive towards "perceived" victims, inequalities, people in trouble, etc. It's a knee jerk reaction called the mothering instinct. Many conservsatives have probably benefited from it from time to time.

You win battles like this with facts and truth. It's up to conservatives to blaze the path of the future with the hard work of figuring out what's not understood.

Looks like she turned off the cruise control this time.

Yep, I remember her. Pretty good singer, but crazy as all get out. Nowadays she looks like a caricature of a fat lesbian degenerate.

Dixie Chicks made the same kind of dumb career move, then after getting lampooned for years over their screw-up, tried to come out with a documentary claiming they were doing better than ever with their new pop audience. The documentary tanking like a lead balloon at the box office put the lie to that though.

By your own admission, the Bible was written by men. Men are not God. Men are flawed. The word of God written by men might have a few errors.

A little too broad. I’m a Southerner and I have many southern friends who are Christians who believe in the rights of all men and women.

Don’t be ridiculous. Her fan base will love her no matter what she thinks of gay marriage.

Oh, they may not raise a ruckus about it, but a lot of country music fans are going to drop her like a hot potato over this. I hope she enjoyed her stardom, because she's headed toward second-tier status now.

She should have just”Shut Up And Sing” to quote Laura Ingrahm.

I’m glad I didn’t buy her cd’s, because when you sing country music and offend their moral values, they WILL turn their backs on you. Ask the Chicken Dix!

Alan Cairns isn’t retired from my iPod! I listen to him often. I’ve learned much from that man and am thankful for him.

I really get a kick knowing that mostly God-hating reprobates built the internet and run the silicon valley companies, yet the Lord has used their efforts to spread His Word in a powerful way around the globe. Those men are doing what they want with their lives in history, but God is in full control and sovereign over history.

Unless his church had purchased radio or television time, prior to the net I would have had almost zero opportunity to hear a man like Alan Cairns, let alone a Conrad Mbewe, the Baptist from Zambia, Africa. I could name dozens of men from around the world whose online ministries have impacted my life, and by extension the lives of my family. Some of those men are famous, but just as many are toiling away for the Lord in relative obscurity. Some of the men I listen to most are now long retired or even dead, yet via the net sermons preached decades ago can be accessed for free within seconds, even from my cell phone.

Because of the internet I now realize I have more in common with grace believing Christians from different states, nations, and even centuries than I do with the lost couple next door.

The best was the parody of Ebony & Ivory with Stevie Wonder.

Frank: “How about: ‘Life’s just an eskimo pie, let’s all take a bite’?”
Stevie: “I think that might be offensive”
Frank: “Who cares what the Eskimos think? They don’t buy records anyway.”
