Federal authorities say they seized more than 32,000 rounds of ammunition that was likely destined for Mexico during a raid last week on a stash house in downtown Nogales.

Acting on information they developed about a stash house on Paseo del Sur, a one-block, dead-end street in a residential neighborhood on the east side of town, special agents with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations (ICE HIS) raided the home last Tuesday, June 5.

Inside, ICE said, the agents “discovered a large cache of ammunition that they suspect was being staged to smuggle into Mexico.”

Seized were 10,000 7.62-caliber rounds; 8,000 .223-caliber rounds; 5,000 9 mm rounds; 5,000 .38 Super rounds; 3,500 .45-caliber rounds; and 1,000 10 mm rounds.

As of Monday, no arrests had been made in the case, which remains under investigation.

What they found

• 10,000 7.62- caliber rounds

• 8,000 .223- caliber rounds

• 5,000 9-mm rounds

• 5,000 .38 Super rounds

• 3,500 .45-caliber rounds

• 1,000 10-mm rounds.

That’s the way Doug Koenig specified his custom build, and I thought I’d get another 1911 with that trigger configuration.

32K rounds? No big deal.

That's just a warning burst on this....

They "discovered a large cache of ammunition"...

So?

It is absolute discrimination, no where in all of that collection pup pistols is any mention of 44 Special. It is without a doubt one of the finest guns around, and no mention of ammo for it. They should be banned from posting.

I won't argue that point. A friend of mine (fellow ex-cop) had a 2 1/2" Charter Arms Bulldog that he seldom used, even after I got him some good grips. I begged him to sell it to me, or trade for one of my 1911s, but to no avail. He died last year, and his widow sold it with a storage shed full of other stuff within a month -- broke my heart!

“It is not illegal to store ammunition in your home.”
You may wish to check the city ordinances.

As I have mentioned on other threads, I have been around here for awhile and IMHO Freepers are some of the poorest boatmen around. You guys may be able to shoot, but I wouldn’t trust you to ride alongside me in a ferry!

I can’t really talk though, I lose about 2K rounds of ammo every month, and at least two or three guns a year in boating accidents.

Thank goodness my wife doesn’t know ;)

AFAIK, it is not illegal to store ammunition in a home in Arizona, and Arizona has a very strong state preemption law.

Two bricks of 22s make 1K rounds. That is 64 bricks of 22LR.

Yes I know that 7.62 (prolly x39) are bigger but just sayin’
