Jeb Bush: Willingness to compromise in DC is gone
Boston Globe/AP ^ | June 12, 2012 | Brendan Farrington

Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush says he believes that the willingness to compromise that allowed Presidents George H.W. Bush and Ronald Reagan to succeed no longer exists in Washington. He faults both parties for the problem.

"My father and President Reagan were successful because they were willing to put policy solutions above political wins. They recognized the president has a significant influence and ability to drive the agenda and used that to find common ground," Bush said in an email to The Associated Press on Tuesday.

"Washington today is hyper-partisan with people speaking off political talking points rather than working together to find common ground to address the issues our country faces," Bush said.

Bush's comments came a day after several news organizations reported that his father and Reagan would have a hard time winning the presidential nomination in today's Republican Party. Earlier Tuesday, Bush used Twitter to say his remarks were taken out of context. He told the AP that he was talking about partisanship in Congress as a whole.

"Both parties are at fault. Rep. Paul Ryan is one of the few who has shown courage. He proposed a well thought-out budget as a starting place for real discussions," Bush told the AP.

"What was he met with -- incredible criticism from both parties. But, I hold Democrats more accountable because they control two of the three offices -- president & Senate. Over the last four years, they have had multiple opportunities and have opted to take the politically expedient route over working together to find a policy solution."

Bush reiterated his view that the tone of the Republican Party often concerns him.

"I don't believe it's a party that doesn't allow for disagreement among members -- but that is often what it sounds like,"

If milt loses, I think we can expect the RINO establishment to push Jeb as our candidate in 2016.

Will we Conservatives once again be fractured and allow the RINOs to foist another abysmal candidate on us?

Win.

Start by talking about winning.

Then, talk strategy.

Finally do it. NOWHERE in that process, is “defeat” or “compromise”.

Hey Jeb!
In the beginning, we had a free America.
We’ve been compromising in the WRONG direction ever since.

EVERY time conservatives seem to have a chance at regaining lost freedoms, some McCain or Bush comes along, insisting we give up before the battle has been engaged.

COMPROMISE is what GOT us where we are. We should NOT compromise on Constitutional issues....which is what has been done. Screw your view Jeb, and please, just go away!

pffft...

For George the First and Second "compromise" = agreeing to what the Democrats and Socialists asked.
I presume heir-apparent Jeb would aspire to the same definition of 'compromise'...

Jeb’s problem is that he thinks it’s the GOP’s duty to “compromise” every time. DemocRATS NEVER “compromise”. Shove it Jebby boy!

“Compromise” is another way of saying “My beliefs come with a price tag.”

I respect the Dems for their refusal to compromise. I don’t agree with anything they stand for, but at least they have the sense to stand behind their insanity. We send people to DC to further our beliefs, not to ‘compromise’ them.

What happened to cong/sen voting on issues people want rather than creating a hash of cheese no one wants?

What makes you think Romney is about compromise?

Something about him, seems better than that.

Particularly I liked the way he assumed the role of provider, for Trump.

Wait and see.

Wait and see...

So how are American patriots supposed to compromise with traitors, without ceasing to be patriots?

First we got Bush 1 accusing RR of vodoo economics, then his thousand pts of lite. Then we got Bush 2 the compassionate conservative. Now we have to listen to “pastel” Jeb? I think NOT!

The Bushes are just trying to hang on to their family fortune and power. They are trying desperately to remain relevant, as is they ever were.
