I learned two things from the experience ~ (1) There are Mormon terrorists ~ usually they target their own, but sometimes they don't care, and (2) This sort of thing actually bothers most Mormons.

Democrats, in contrast, accept Puerto Rican mad bombers, Bill Ayers and Brent Kimberlin as just a day to day occurrence.

Part of the equation is that the intramountain West is one of those areas where crackpots can hide out for centuries, so they got'em ~ more than their fair share actually!
