Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn, Mich., boasts a proud, 43-year history of hosting America's best racing action on its 1,400-plus acres in the scenic Irish Hills. With 18 degree banking and 73-foot wide sweeping turns, Michigan International Speedway provides drivers with three and four grooves to run around the two-mile speedway.

..

Cale Yarborough won the first NASCAR race at the speedway on June 15, 1969, in a thrilling duel with LeeRoy Yarbrough. The two drivers battled door-to-door for most of the final 150 laps. On their final circuit, they touched twice-entering turn one, with Yarbrough brushing the outside wall. They then drafted down the back straight, and through turn three. But while coming out of the final turn, LeeRoy Yarbrough spun and crashed just 300 yards from the finish line, handing the victory to Yarborough.

Thanks everyone - you won't believe this - my Internet was down until about 1/3 of the way into the race. In the morning it showed Internet was not down, I thought I had a computer virus. I was tearing my hair our trying to figure it out. Finally I called Int provider and they said their provider was down which is why I had no sign of a problem between me and them.
Anyway, yesterday was the best racing day ever for Dale Jr fans :)

It was sweet, no doubt about it. Congratulations for hanging in there WCG. We were holding our breath cause we knew there’d be a caution or fire or alien invasion that’d keep Jr. From winning. He’s been running so good this year. I think this pairing w/JJ was the final piece of the puzzle.

Who was the lucky girl that got the kiss after the interview?

I only had 2 cars running at the end. Good to see Jr win one!

Thank you - I've been through a lot with him :) He even said the last 15 laps were the longest ever and he was waiting for the "what could go wrong" part of the race to happen.
The girl is Amy she's been with him for two years now.

BTW Mr H was participating via the bobblehead in front of the trophy — he was back home in Charlotte.

BSRT made the tragic mistake of having Jr on the bench.

Robbie Gordon is entered for Sonoma next weekend. He will have to get in on qualifying time, but he has done well there in the past.
