I like this guy most of the time...BUT....

My ancestors were hungry and oppressed too - and they fought and struggled against awful odds to get here from European sh*tholes, then they stood in line like tens of thousands of others before them, and did it legally, and were grateful to become Americans..UN-hyphenated Americans.

I’m short on compassion for border jumpers...Period.

Especially when they’re here stealing Social Security numbers, getting on Welfare, WIC, etc., etc., taking jobs from American kids and American people who are out of work, and then loudly demanding the same rights that others earned, and loudly demanding that we just accept them and their La Raza mentality.

Do it right, or get the hell outta my country.

And we should damn well start electing people who believe the same thing, and who will enforce the law. Hell, they enforce every other damned law on US. If they don’t enforce the law, then they need to be thrown out of office and barred from holding public office ever again.

Pretty much sums it up.

My father came here legally after waiting for years. Rubio is now for amnesty. This is how a nation dies.

Starve or go to the alleged land of milk and honey.

Please, no one is starving. People are coming over because we take care of them while we pay them more than the kleptocrats in their home countries will.

I'm tired of subsidizing the ruling classes in latin America.

Wrong analogies.

You should be asking if Washington would have left for France. Staying and leading the rebellion suggests that Rubio should stay in his home country and fight for change there instead of sneaking into the USA.

Obviously, after over 4 years of the discussion on this website, you have missed the point.

Being born in the USA isn’t the ONLY requirement!!!

BOTH of your parents have to be CITIZENS of the USA at the time of your birth.

Obama’s phoney birth certificate from Hawaii isn’t worth the paper it is forged on. It is not the only reason Barry is not eligible.

The main reason why Obama isn’t eligible——His Daddy was a citizen of the British monarchy because Kenya was still a colony of Britain in August of 1961. Daddy Obama was in the USA as a Foreign Aid student-—he was absolutely NOT a citizen.

“Marco Rubio IS a natural born US Citizen. He was born in Miami, and nothing else has any bearing on his being a US Citizen”

Recently, right here on FR, there was an article posted about a Mexican woman who crossed the border, had a baby girl in an American hospital, and then returned home.

Let’s just suppose for a moment that the baby girl is raised in Mexico, speaking Spanish, educated “as a Mexican”, with loyalties to Mexico.

Let’s also suppose that at age 18 she walks into the American embassy down in Mexico and asserts her claim to U.S. citizenship (which she will be granted by the circumstances of her birth). After doing so, she remains in Mexico as an “American citizen”.

Let’s suppose that at age 36, she returns to America (after a 36-year absence), and runs for the presidency (as absurd as that may appear on its face).

If she does, she will be AS QUALIFIED AS MARCO RUBIO to hold the office of the presidency of the United States. No difference. NONE AT ALL (all shouting intentional).

This is not what the founders intended.

“Natural born citizen” is intended to mean something -more-.

Marco Rubio does not meet those qualifications. My opinion only.

But if by chance he does get picked to be VP, we are going to hear a lot more about it.

“...Rubio is now for amnesty. This is how a nation dies...”

One correction - This is how a Nation is murdered.

By people within the walls opening the gates and letting in alien, foreign cultures that have ZERO regard for assimilating.

The GOP and the Dems are for amnesty because they’re battling for votes...from people who aren’t eligible TO vote, because they’re not citizens.

We either stand up for our culture, for our people, for our language and heritage, or we get overrun.

My father didn’t almost bleed to death in the Ardennes for “Dial 1 to continue in English, Please...”

Then again, evidently he did...because we have traitors in positions to do great damage to us.

"Really, you think the typical illegal crossing the border has really given it this much thought?"

Obviously not at the conscious level...or at least completely at the conscious level. But I'll bet the majority of them are attracted to the notion that the police won't regularly stop them and extort bribes, and that they'll get to keep a sizeable portion of their income.

"Starve or go to the alleged land of milk and honey. I can’t imagine the thinking process includes much more than that."

Again, they may not understand or fully comprehend the philosophical and cultural underpinnings that have made this the the "land of milk and honey," but they are certainly drawn to their results.

Most Americans, for that matter, fall into the same boat...they don't have a solid grasp of, or appreciation for our founding principles. They merely enjoy their fruits.

No, I don’t. But I hate freepers who argue like liberals.

“The unemployment rate in Mexico is less than 5% if that tells you anything.”

What it tells me is that all those who would otherwise be unemployed in Mexico, are HERE instead...

Okay, Rubio's election year "DREAM act" legislation was irritiating enough (even though I knew he was doing it to pre-empt the Dems and had no plans of actually passing it), but now he's really starting to cross the line. What makes this even more damning is Rubio seems to have completely forgotten that statements like this are the EXACT reason why his immediate predecessor elected to that office(Mel Martinez) killed his political career. If Rubio is dumb enough to make the same kind of statements six years later, he certainly doesn't belong on a GOP ticket. (and my hunch is that Rubio is probably on Romney's list of top 5 veep choices)

One thing has become crystal clear after all this... Florida conservatives should run like hell in the opposite direction the next time some "rising Hispanic star" that Jeb Bush loves is being touted as the "true-conservative, tea-party patriot who is a terrific pro-life champion and son of Cuban immigrants yet anti-illegal immigration" They tried that twice in a row and immediately rushed out to endorse the guy and take him at his word without vetting him. Both times it backfired BIG TIME.

Had enough?

Mraco is a trojan horse for more socialists coming into America illegally and being made citizens without a reason. Marco is completely wrong on this.

Virgil Goode is right on this. And that is why he has my vote for president. The plan should be to stop immigration and take a serious look at enforcing our borders, at the immigration policy that lets crooks and terrorists into the country, and making sure the job less rate is cut to 5% or less.

Marco, you’re getting seriously close to a STFU moment.

That's one of the things I love about my fellow Freepers. I read a story, get ready to comment, and the first post on the thread just nails it better than I ever could. Still chuckling at that one.

My two cents: Rubio forgets what most illegal alien supporters forget. There are far more people in the world who would like to do as he suggests than there is capacity for the U.S. to accommodate them. They need to answer the question: How many illegals is enough?

Would these bleeding hearts let an unlimited number of homeless people invade their homes, eat their food, and when their family rightly complains, permit themselves to be chastised for being "bigoted" toward their new "undocumented family members?" I don't think so.

I agree with your comments, and I will also touch on the fact that some of these so-called refugees (from the past) were very loosely granted that status. I know of one location in the U. S. where the newcomers were in no way your traditional ‘in fear of their life or some such’ individuals. Many of them entered the U. S. purchasing expensive homes and the like.

That is the electric cord in that Declaration that links the hearts of patriotic and liberty-loving men together, that will link those patriotic hearts as long as the love of freedom exists in the minds of men throughout the world

You forgot to add a respect for obeying the rule of law and not stealing freedoms from others (ie., all those waiting in line, paying their fees, and truly wanting to BE American.)

Check out any border state. You do NOT see illegals or their numerous offspring speaking english or flying our flag or speaking reverently about this nation.

Great post.

I am very glad to the majority of posts here supporting the rule of law. This is a far cry from 4 years ago.

Since most illegal alien supporters tend to refer to only their own ethnicity I'd guess the honest answer is 'as many of My People as possible'.

BTW ever wonder why there're very few irish illegal immigration advocates, even though there are plenty of illegal irish in the country?
