'There was zero sleep': Rielle Hunter on her first time with John Edwards
(London) Daily Mail ^ | June 19, 2012

Rielle Hunter says the first time she slept with John Edwards was the 'most extraordinary night of her life.'

Lurid details continue to emerge about the affair that annihilated the two-time presidential candidate's political career as Hunter's tell-all memoir slowly leaks to the public.

The couple met in February 2006 at the Regency Hotel in New York City. Hours after Hunter approached the former North Carolina Senator, he called her up to his hotel room for a night of 'surrender' and 'zero sleep.'

Hunter says she caught Edwards' eye at the hotel when she followed him out of a reception and said, 'You are so hot.'

Hours later, she got a call from him inviting her to his room.

She claims she went only because she thought she could give Edwards advice for his presidential campaign. But that all changed the moment she was alone behind closed doors with 'her Johnny.'

'The connection I felt when I walked in the door had only grown and the amount of energy between us was huge and unstoppable,' Hunter writes.

'And then a moment came while we were talking when something in my heart clicked and I surrendered. I took off my teacher hat, let go of all my resistance to him and let him lead. And lead he did. He led me toward the most extraordinary night of my life. There was a lot of talk, a lot of laughter and zero sleep.'

But Hunter says she didn't give in easily to sleeping with a married man -- it took Edwards telling her a story about having three other mistresses to get her into bed that first night they met.

“Not right what she did with a married guy but a person who tells another they “are hot”, even a stranger, is not sluttish in any way.”

####

Disagree, in every way.

But then, I still think women should act like ladies, not aggressive, on-the make, sexual prowlers.

How unhip of me.

There is a new type of sin and scandal, as times change: SHAME. It used to be some action, but now it’s a FEELING:

If you do a bad thing and show you are ashamed, then the SHAME where you erred —the SHAME is the bad thing, not the action. And that’s because the new sin is, “bad vibes”.

It’s a new kind of hippy sin, similar to smoking, driving a car, or owning a gun.

If there is no shame, there is no sin, apparently. Thus, you can do anything as long as you proclaim you’re proud of that thing, and/or you smoosh it in everyone’s faces.

Heroin addict? No problem. Just make sure to write a book about it. You sell your body? Do interviews about it in order to Make It Okay.

That’s what she’s doing, here. She’s making it okay by demonstrating that she is free of shame.

He probably didn’t touch her, just bragged about what a great lover he was and how she was going to be amazingly popular and wealthy by hanging out with him. (and have great hair like Johnny)

She’s so crazy, it might be true.

Why do I keep picturing a boiling rabbit?

C’mon folks, I think most of us have “been there and done that” at some point in our lives. I’m old and starting to lose my memory - but not my MEMORIES. Some of the things I did weren’t anything I’d want to tell my mother about but I’m not sorry I did them. I think most of you have similar memories - except for those of you who are best described as ‘dogs’ or so staid you think anything fun must also be a sin.

Actually, Hunter came from a wealthy family and was already semi-famous, having been involved in a famous criminal case and the subject of a novel by one of the more popular writers of recent decades.

A women telling a man he is hot(or vica versa) is just harmless flirting...been going on for generations...not anything new.

Guess she was thinking of The Arabian Nights and wanted to be part of a harem.

You’ve got it.

The foundationally destructive, dead wrong turn of non-judgmentalism, which has suffused our culture to its core.

Nothing says 'solid future' like mentioning you're number four.
