Your mother is VERY perceptive. Watch them together when the other speaks. The eyes dart when an understood lie is told, and very tiny smirks come across their faces.
Blacks in “the hood” often form very tight bonds through neighborhood connections and gang life. My brother would die for a very close friend of his, and we’ve caught both of them in lies with ease. You just have to know what to look at and for with the other person.
