“My daughter is taking her test for her karate black belt this afternoon”
Congratulations!! You must be so proud! That’s a lot of hard work and, as you know, is only the beginning. Blackbelt means you’ve learned the basics. She has the rest of her life to practice and refine her skills.
My daughter is working on her 2nd degree for September. We started her in karate for the same reasons you did and it turned out she loved it.
I like these threads because it brings out all the gun braggarts and big talking second-guessers who puff up their feathers tell us how much better THEY would’ve handled the situation. It must be hard on some egos to get showed up by a GIRL!
The woman is alive and unharmed thanks to her skills and diciplined mind. She used the correct amount of force to end the confrontation just like you are taught. Woulda, coulda, shoulda is just talk.
Get her to watch Linda Hamilton in Terminator 3 when she is escaping the hospital. Hamilton is perhaps the only realistic female warrior type of all of them.
Linda trains constantly, she lives only among men who are immersed in the man world everyday and she learns from them, and she fights like a trained woman.
I love how she fights her way out of the hospital, all of it is realistic, she doesn't punch her way out, she fights, weaves, and flees, all within the limits of her size and strength with escape being the goal.
Something this Karate trained/runner, on a run no less should have done, she should have been fighting to escape, not throwing punches until one of them pulled a knife and forced her to backoff.
