“Get her to watch Linda Hamilton in Terminator 3...”
Movie violence can be fun to watch sometimes, especially when the actors know what they are doing. However, it seems like comparing an idealized movie action sequence to real life is a little silly. Linda got as many takes as she needed to appear perfectly bad ass. Our victim had one SURPRISE take for all the marbles.
There is a difference between exhibition/competition and real fighting. A good instructor teaches both.
Your daughter needs to learn that she is studying how to protect herself and escape, she is not learning what men learn, how to go into a bar and defeat hardened fighters and criminal types.
If your daughter thinks that she can out fight men in a face to face fight after her karate classes, then she is in trouble. If she expects to be standing over vanquished opponents as they lay defeated on the ground then she will be in trouble, many bad guys are excellent fighters and bigger and stronger than her, many of them are the toughest guys in the county jails and lock-ups.
The female in this article did not exactly take “all the marbles” she was too much trouble for two teen muggers with witnesses, and cell phones involved, but after 18 years of studying martial arts in the family owned business it was hardly the fight of legends.
