I’ve worked here on the USCG Academy since June 1988. The exact same knot on a pier pilon that only gets half covered at full moon high tide, still doesn’t get covered. The knot in the wood is 2 inches in diameter. My favorite fishing spot for stripers (and other fish) during lunch hour.

Yes but the story does not mention Conneticut so you guys are exempt from this problem..../sarc. Only Mass, New Jersey, Philadelphia and Norfolk seem to be having the problem

When I was on active duty during the 80’s in the Navy the the charts showed absolutley no change in the high tide levels in the fours years I was stationed at Chas. SC Naval Station.

Too many people living in urban sprawl. They are sucking on the groundwater too hard.

Ding Ding Ding, we have a winner!!

Back in college way back in the 1970's I took a geology course that documented land subsidence from groundwater withdrawal. Not only in Arizona, but in the south San Francisco bay area, Houston area and in sea coast regions of North Carolina. This was way before anyone thought of global warming due to man. There may be other reasons (e.g. plate tectonics), but the global warming hoax is not one of them.

because warmer water expands

Note the following from a lib site, do you see the problem?:

http://www.chacha.com/question/how-much-does-water-expand-per-every-degree-it-is-heated

How much does water expand per every degree it is heated?

water is heated it expands rapidly adding about 9 % by volume. Water has its maximum density at 3.98 degrees C. ChaCha again!

Here we thought CA was going to slide into the sea!

Turns out it’s the NE part of the country that going to disappear under the ocean.

Dang, I hope we can hold out until the source of our social, political, and financial problems make that final, last gasp before going under.

Okay, Okay I saw this on Gilligan’s Island once. The land is not sinking and the water level is not rising. Gilligan is just putting the stick out farther in the water to get the bigger lobsters.

How the hell does it rise 2 inches in one place and 200 miles north rise 3.x inches?

Have these people never had even basic physics?

ah - once again good thoughts.

I was wondering how one side of a bowl of water could be higher - isn't the Atlantic a large bowl that borders on europe and america? how does one side rise more htan the other? It doesn't.

“Any study showing sea level rising faster in some areas than others proves it is not the sea level rising, but land sinking.”

Anyone with a teaspoon of common sense can figure that out. Unfortunately, there are far too many absolutely STUPID people out there these days. The ones publishing this story are foremost among them.

I have see what you posted somewhere else and I find it plausible. Do you recall where did you found it, as I’d like to read the source? I also recall a program that talked about the lands of the mid-west USA and Canada rising as the weight of the snow and ice melted from the last ice age. Thanks.
