Seriously try saying to your boss in any work environment that you want to move in (or sleep on the couch 5 days out of 7) and he will reject the idea completely. In a previous life, I worked for a civil engineering firm. One of my duties while I was there was to ressearch zoning codes to see what was legal or illegal for a given property be it residential, commericial or industrial. In everytown and city I reseached it was illegal for a person to habitate in a commericial (read office or small business) or industrial zone building.
Millions of people may do it and get away with it but it is generally illegal.
