A public memorial for Rodney King will be held Saturday at Forest Lawn cemetery in the Hollywood Hills. King died two weeks ago of what police believe was an accidental drowning at his home in Rialto.

King’s family, friends and a host of civil rights leaders and celebrities are expected to attend the service, which is being held in an auditorium on the grounds of Forest Lawn. The King family set up a bank fund to help pay for the funeral, which could exceed $20,000.

“Rodney King’s three daughters will be there, also his mom Odessa, his sister Ratasha, and Rodney has three brothers, which many people don’t realize," said Alan Spear, spokesman for the family.

Jesse Jackson, the Reverend Al Sharpton and others are expected to eulogize King. Many of King’s relatives are devout Jehovah’s Witnesses and may hold a separate memorial at a later date.

His videotaped beating at the hands of Los Angeles police officers 21 years ago turned him into a reluctant symbol of police misconduct. The officers' acquittal sparked a week of deadly riots. King later won a multimillion-dollar civil lawsuit against the city of Los Angeles.

Rodney King died of what police say was an accidental drowning. King admitted to a lifelong struggle with alcohol and drug abuse. Results of an autopsy and toxicology tests are expected to be released next month.

Criminal druggie who endangered community paid $3 mill plus for being so drugged up he couldn’t be taken down.

Now he’s a hero of some kind?

I think he was the guy who was beaten by mobs during rioting; was famous for saying, “Can’t we all just get along?”

Two weeks dead. Bit stinky there, huh.

Ya know, a responsible family would have opted for cremation rather and expecting someone else to foot the bill.

Yeah, isn't that creating a potential biohazard? Esp considering California's supposedly fragile ecosystem. Time to either put the stiff in the ground or burn the trash.

Rodney King was absolutely not beaten by any mobs during a riot. He was subdued by LAPD after attacking them in a PCP-fueled rage following having been pulled over by them, someone filmed that, and the mainstream media presented a heavily-edited video to the public in order to inflame racial tensions. When the officers that subdued King were acquitted, riots broke out in Los Angeles, thanks to the lies that the mainstream media put out that attempted to make the officers appear guilty. A white truck driver named Reginald Denny is probably the most well-known victim of those riots.

Rodney King did indeed get on TV and ask “(c)an we all get along, (etc.)” in a plea to the public to quell the riots. Was not enough; the national guard and Marines had to be brought in.

The mainstream media has only gotten worse in their lying ways since those infamous days. If they had to have paid for their malfeasance out of their own pockets (including the damage incurred due to the rioting that they caused), they would have been bankrupted years ago and several executives would be in jail till this day.

Get that body in the ground, or burn it already. I didn’t know they still had it lying around.

What’s wrong with a used corrugated box.

“Results of an autopsy and toxicology tests are expected to be released next month.”

Yeah. No sense in ruining a good PAR-TAY, or risk losing a ton of donation money.

By Saturday night I hope we have a beer stand set up just outside the cemetery.
Free maps to the grave site with every beer, free beer for Reginald Denny!

The POS got three million bucks, continued as a druggy/drunk, and was “Untouchable” to law enforcement even when “Doing” underage boys!
Now his leech family is soliciting donations for his libtard media event funeral.

Only in America!

There was a thread here on FR a few years ago about his being caught in a car with an underage boy toy hooker.

Cops let him go to prevent creating “an incident”.

His wife of the time blamed it all on the cops, she claimed Rodney was “Confused from the trauma of his beating”.

So yes, it seems he was queer too, and liked them young.

A lavish funeral for a feculent fool.

if a gay boy knew enough about rodney to try to sell himself thereto, wonder what everybody else knew.

20 grand for a funeral? the way the market is priced for unplanned funerals that sounds rather middling.

And Forest Lawn is one of the most beautiful cemeteries. Many of Hollywood's Golden Age are buried there.

Thanks for the facts. It was, of course, REGINALD DENNY who was the true victim of the riots, and Rodney King was the original main story that started the riots (with the help of, surprise, surprise, the MSM).

Body should have been left to science for experiments and study, particularly the head.

Slicing and dicing what passed for his brain might have been very informative for the medical field.
