Report
One of the better movies I have ever seen. I have no idea how accurate it was.
I doubt if another actor could have done what Walter Brennan did. In portraying Pastor Pyle, he was jumping around and dancing in front of the church singing. “Give Me That Old Time Religion” and did not look at all silly.
WATCH THIS VIDEO, LISTEN TO TESTIMONY FROM FAMILY MEMBERS AND OLD HISTORICAL ACCOUNTS FROM THE GERMANS AND AMERICAN TROOPS PRESENT WHEN THIS HAPPENED!
In a morning meeting I recently attended, the person who opened the gathering began by praying, Lord, thanks for today. It is the beginning of a new day we have never seen before. Although the idea seemed obvious, that prayer got me thinking about a couple of different things. First, because each day is a new opportunity, it will be filled with things we cannot anticipate or even prepare for. Therefore, its important that we recognize our limitations and lean heavily on Godintentionally choosing to live in His grace and strength rather than relying on our own resources.
The second thing that occurred to me is that the newness of each day is a gift worth celebrating. Perhaps this concept was what prompted the psalmist to declare, This is the day the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it (Ps. 118:24).
Of course, we face many unknowns todayand some could be difficult. But the treasure of each brand-new day is so special that Moses was led to write, Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom (90:12). Every new day is a precious gift. May we thankfully embrace each one with confident trust and humble celebration.

famous heroes! His is quite the tale of bravery!
Hi Kathy! ((HUGS!)) SGT York was quite the hero and a man of impeccable integrity. He was a very religous man that always was seeking The Lord’s guidance in his life. He was truly a Hero of Heroes!

I'm back in the office this morning from a crazy weekend.
Power was finally restored yesterday
about 11 a.m.
Heard this morning that parts of norther Virginia are still out.
It's so hot here that I had to keep cranking the a/c up so it would actually turn off.
Feel sorry for those without a/c.
Poor grand-doggy was stressed through it all
- too hot for her and I'm guessing such strange things going on,
which were not part of our daily routine.
I heard a rumor that the firefighters have gotten the CO wildfires under control.
Got to look into that.
Watched a special called Heroes At Home yesterday.
Sears along with some other organizations
was providing some incredible things to help several military families...
new appliances, bedroom furniture, toys for kids, chores (painting, chopping wood, renovations) for those who needed it.
I'm telling you it was Awesome
One guy was so grateful he was hugging everyone...even the camera operator. LOL
This will be a short week for me.
Taking the 5th & 6th off to have long holiday break.
So, I need to make my rounds
before everyone shows up.
But, you stay right where you are. Cause...............I'll be bock!
The FR Canteen is
Come in and sit for a while.
There's always plenty of coffee, tea,
pancakes, conversation, silliness,
and plain old BS

In for another hot & humid day here in Chicagoland!
I have driven the section of hwy 127 from Crossville to Kentucky. The hwy passes with in one mile of his grave site and the farm given him by the state of Tennessee. York also served as a county sheriff, I don’t remember the dates. Seeing the movie it is just a movie. Seeing the movie after standing at SGT York’s grave gave it an entirely different perspective. To most history is just a story. After that visit history is real and right in my face.
