Many Americans are furious that Obamacare will require them to buy health insurance.
Most of these folks seem to hate the idea that Obama is forcing them to do something more than they hate the idea of shelling out money.
But for those who also care about the money, here are the details.

A lot of people will be exempt. Which defeats the purpose of the plan.

OK, so right now my husband and I make roughly $75,000 self-employed.
We pay $12,000 per year for an individual somewhat high deductible family plan.
We can cancel that, pay a penalty of $1600, pay out-of-pocket for routine needs, and then reapply any time we want for insurance if we get sick, because we can’t be denied.
And this is supposed to be sustainable?
Somehow I don’t think Obamacare anticipated many of the unintended consequences!
Exempt (among others, such as Muslims): Those with “hardships”.
Let’s see if we can guess who that’s gonna be.....
I do not think the people ululating over geeting their entitled “free” medical care even realize that THEY will be forced to buy insurance to cover it
healthy young adults who have chosen to be uninsured because they now need little medical services, will be the bulk of those paying high premiums to cover the costs of all the poor, elderly, and “pre-existing” conditions ...
If Gen Y are unemployed they may well remain so, as employers cannot afford to hire and insure them
This is health care cost control and shifting, not health care
So I’m a bit confused the article talks about a “Bronze” Package that costs around 4500-5000 for a single person. Is it really saying to buy a lowered tier package its going to cost a single guy like me around 400 a month???? That’s insane if I’m reading it correctly.

I think that $1600 “penalty” fee is a red herring number and it is going to get ratcheted up a lot- quickly
Perhaps it will become a per capita penalty fee
If you think being thrown into one of the obamacare exchanges is a low cost alternative, you havent been in a badly run HMO with gatekeeper clerks, who will decide if and when you get to see a doctor and what treatment the doctor is allowed to provide you, and who have the courtesy and intelligence of the TSA and the compassion of the IRS
