Rep. Waxman: Republicans can repeal Obamacare with 51 votes

Republicans can repeal Obamacare with a 51-vote majority in the U.S. Senate through budget reconciliation, according to an architect of the health care law, Rep. Henry Waxman, D-Calif., who also made a death panel-style indictment of the Republican budget.

“I think they could do it,” Waxman told Newsmakers when asked about reconciliation. “I think the American people have to understand that if they vote for Romney and they vote for Republicans to have control of the house and the senate, there’s a good chance that the health care bill will be wiped out and all these benefits will be wiped out.”

After denouncing Republicans for saying that Obamacare would lead to death panels — people who ration health care and thus end up denying care to some people — Waxman deployed the same kind of argument against Republicans.

Just trying to rally the base by saying those evil republicans are going to take away their shiny new benefit.

Another spot-on prognostication by Nostril-damus.

Do you think enough voters can be found who believe Henry Waxman's statement? If so, Obamacare will be junked, as it should be.

He didn’t even read the damnable thing...he’s got a lot of nerve to talk about “benefits”. But then again, it doesn’t apply to him and Congress.

Hey, don’t complain when the Dems go ahead and give a reason to toss these idiots out on their rumps! If Henry Waxman wants to campaign for a republican takeover, please get out of his way!!

Republicans can repeal Obamacare with a 51-vote majority in the U.S. Senate

I thought it was 57 votes - one from each state?

“all these benefits will be wiped out” What benefits?

26 year old freeloader on Dad’s policy and no $20 co-pay for your mammogram? Good luck with THAT argument.

I disagree that they can pass it by reconciliation. First, they have to get the support to even get reconciliation considered, and second, they have to meet the defined, legal criteria for being considered for reconciliation (I think there are 5 points that must be met), and then they have to be rino-free.

Rinos will work, first, to blow up any effort in that direction, and, second, if that fails, then they’ll withdraw their support at critical junctures in the process.

Finally, you have to believe Flip Romney, the grandfather of ObamaCare, that he really will do this.

I’m betting that John Roberts gave us ObamaCare, and that the US will become a German-style social democracy under Romney. (Better German than Greek, I suppose).

Congressman Henry 'nostrils' Waxman assumes that Americans will just see the word 'benefits' and pant for them with no questions asked as to the truth of his statement or the real cost and loss of freedom in our medical decisions. Sadly, some will do just that but at this late date, most Americans realize that Obamacare is hardly a 'benefit' to working Americans and treats us like cattle. Screw Obama and his Dumbo ears as well as Henry Waxman and his gigantic, piggy nostrils. I'm sick and tired of these smug neo-communists attempting to destroy our economy and usurp our freedoms while treating us like imbeciles.

I’m betting Greek style is more likely. The Germans at least have an efficient bureaucracy if such a thing can be said about it.

This is a weak beginning to a campaign that will threaten most people with the immediate loss of their health insurance in the event of a Romney win combined with a Republican senate.

The problem here, from what I understand is that Republicans can pass it with 51 votes but the President can veto it.
