See 41, the delegates are already 'locked in'. The convention is nothing more than a pep-rally. Right now, forms are going out and being returned to all the delegates regarding their support (at that, some delegates have already been dismissed because they refused to pledge their vote based on the voter's of their state's selection). The documents are now being returned to the RNC. Party and State officials will have already started to complete all the legalities necessary. Once you get to the convention, it is just a pep-rally with a symbolic vote and a few symbolic signatures by super delegates.

Because I lived in China for FIVE YEARS and reported to a Vice Minister of the Central Government! We aren’t even Close! You sound rather naive! to say the least. You are still allowed to be on this Internet and decide where You want to work, among a million billion other things! all of which Mitt Romney treasures as well, or my hero, Chris Cristy wouldn’t want to be his V.P. if called upon.
My Gosh!..............

What you say is intriguing, and according to some posting here, impossible.

I’m descended from a cavalry office who served in Washington’s armny and witnessed the British surrender at Yorktown. That was supposed to be impossible, too.

I would rather see a revolt during the Republican convention that results in a truely conservative candidate, rather than see a civil war in the streets of America.

You start with a premise that the GOPe pushed Mitt on us. I do not accept that as accurate. If you start with an incorrect premise, then your overall theory will be false.

I was for Sarah, but she decided, way past the time so as to lead me to believe she would run, that she would not. So, I gave my support to Herman Cain. He ran into the media smear machine and lost. So I then threw in with Newt. In my state primary, I actually voted for Newt (both Palin and Cain being out of the race). However, Santorum won Alabama. So I went over to the Santorum camp. Both he and Newt split the conservative vote until the very end and that is how we got Mitt.

You might not like it, but it is true.

The reason we are stuck with Mitt is all the other candidates split the conservative vote, and I'll also add I've never seen such hateful infighting between all the various candidates supporters as I did here on Free Republic. The viciousness and invective brought down the whole field. For those who did so... Y’all got what you deserved.

I’ll second that.
We live in Realville.
The repub nominee is the only realistic option.
We hold his feet to the fire.
We keep the House.
We takeover the Senate.
The TEA Party will be heard in November and beyond.
We can never give up and must keep voting for the candidate who is closest to our conservative values.
If that means we have to vote for our 4th or 5th choice (hey I was for Palin, Bachmann,Cain, Santorum....but they’re out), we still must vote for the most conservative candiate we have. We in Realville know who that is.

Realville. To live anywhere else is pointless.

In threads such as this one, we at FR are starting to form a Conservative Party to Repeal and Replace the RINO Political Party.

Romney was chosen by the RINOs based on “who is the most electable?” Thus the RINOs have no coherent base philosophy, and only want to win which usually results in a huge RINO loss. 2008 was the classic example with all leadership losses, by endorsing a liberal Republican to lead the Party.

Romney has turned out to be Obamalite, and after winning the Primary Campaign now polls within the margin of error against pathetic Obama.

2012 is shaping up to be a repeat loss to Obama, just like 2008.

I support the idea of replacing Romney, but I think that we should took for ideas first, and then see who has those ideas, and thus choose the candidate the opposite way that the RINOs have done, over and over again.

Thus, if we want to replace the RINOs we must learn from their mistakes and then not repeat them.

_____________

If we can learn, then we are intelligent. If we cannot learn then we are stupid. If we do not know then we are ignorant.

Let us start with the base case: we are ignorant. Then let us learn from the Republican Primary Campaigns of 2008 and 2012.

Refrain from the PEOPLE and focus on the ideas that people had that worked to achieve the goals that we have.

For example, I learned from Herman Cain that he had a useful idea that the first thing that needs to be done is to define the problem. Then make sure that you are working on the main problem.

Then we can look for men and women who have demonstrated that capability.

Then go the next topic that we have learned, etc.

In this way we can compile a list of ideas and qualities with people who have those qualities.

This is difficult, because our natural inclination is to react emotionally to a person, and it is usually instantaneous: like or dislike.

We then do not allow any other thoughts into our minds, and we end up with supporting a person that we like, but does not share our ideas.

Make your lists of ideas and qualities, and post them on this thread.

Once that is done then we can choose the most important ideas and qualities.

THEN at the VERY LAST, compare and contrast the people who have the most important ideas and qualities.

What say all of you?

Trick will be to up-end Romney at the convention while at the same time side stepping the Paulbots. I think Palin couold pull it off.

We probably could have built a coalition if all four were included in the administration. I’m no fan of Gingrich but I would happily vote for him today.

This post is the equivalent of calling for us to rally around Obama himself - the result is the same.

It is also not based on an entirely true premise - for whatever reason, our own people picked Romney - with plenty of alternative media airing all of the issues with them. Indiana is a good example of this fact - the GOP voters in overwhelming majorities tossed out Richard Lugar, a long time incumbent - the very same voters overwhelmingly also picked Romney. Same thing in Kentucky with them picking Thomas Massey in the 4th Congressional race. Although the other candidates had just about all suspended their campaigns by that point, if there was such serious opposition in our own ranks to Romney by these same people who were obviously not pro-establishment by any means there would have been a significant, collective vote of the other candidates on the ballot to indicate a protest vote. There wasn’t...

I understand all of the problems with Romney - I also understand not wanting to actively support him with your time and resources given those misgivings. But the reality is that there are a number of other campaigns that need your energy, time, and resources in order to achieve victory - Mourdock in Indiana, Fisher in NE, Love in UT, etc. Channel your energy to something positive to further conservatism rather than waste your energy pouting and moping about what could have been with the GOP primary. Otherwise, your conduct is no more beneficial to our country than that of the most militant Obama supporter. It’s time to grow up and live in the reality in which we face - not the alternate reality we wished for.

I worked for the Navy Security Group as a linguist and cryptanalyst. The signals intelligence I handled was Meditarranean, North African, and ME, at the height of the Cold War. Hardly naive.

For those who don’t know what NavSecGru is, think of it as the National Security Agency only wearing a uniform.

I started researching BHO2’s background in March 2008. By July I knew he wasn’t born in the U.S.A.

For informing others here on Free Republic, I was punished by having my computer hacked twice, once from a Washington, D.C., Senate office building.

My computer was again hacked twice (making that a total of four), the last time after the inauguration. I had to buy a new computer as it was destroyed after that final attack.

We no longer are a free nation.

BHO2 is using the IRS as one of his attack mechanisms, in order to shut critics up. I’m sure that other means of threatening critics into silence have been used as well.

As to Mitt Romney, he is a self-avowed Progressive, a national socialist. Chris Christy doesn’t support a citizen’s Second Amendment Right, without which the First Amendment is meaningless.

Yes - I observed the same thing multiple times - whenever a candidate seemed to have momentum the same script was reused over and over again against that candidate being a closet supporter of Romney who only got into the race to sabotage the other candidates to help Romney win. When Cain had momentum it was said of him, then Santorum, etc. Same reused script over and over again. I think this effort in posts like this is just a recycling of the same strategy to split us up.

If you put fear in the hearts of the people, you control them. Communist principal.

Some people around here are so scare of Obama they have become schizod. They are willing to vote in someone who is worse than candidate Obama was when he started. Gop-e, Rove and other losers are using the dems tactics of “never let a crisis go to waste”. Those around here have Jesus fearing obama. Us REAL conservative women know that the world will not end if obama has another term.

Conservatives who will not vote for romney, will vote the rest of the ticket republican. We will control the house and the senate, and I believe by a large margin. They will overturn and stop what Obama does.

If romney should win, the republicans will feel compelled to give him what he likes and HAS done in MA....gay marriage (he promised the log cabins rep he would do this in the last year) gay adoption-he was very open about this. He FORCED 5 yr olds to be indoctrinated into the gay lifestyle, against parents wished; they could not opt out. 75% radical liberal judges. Tarp, cap and trade, global warming, higher taxes......we could go on, but you know. Romney is chasing obama to the left and obama knows it. Romney needs to look over his shoulder and see the conservatives he’s lost.

I am not “afraid” of obama and won’t vote out of fear. Fear causes people to do things they will later regret. I don’t see many differences between romney and obama. They are both big libs and evil. Why would any Christian vote for an evil person? How do you justify that before God. “Sorry God, I was more afraid of Obama than You”.

If your friend borrowed money and promised to pay it back and did not, and did they again, and again and again. Wouldn’t that person be stupid to continue to give that supposed friend what they want? The gop, romney, much of the right media, rove......all used there power to crown romney king. They helped him cheat, lie, steal and destroy people. They protected romney and repeated over and over and over; only romney can win.

Why in the hell should conservatives (brave, fearless conservatives) vote for someone who has let us know he does not like us and our causes. We have nothing in common with him. ABO is not enough. We use the brains God has given us to see what is down the line if romney

Romney                                                     Obama
pro abortion                                                 pro abortion
pro gay marriage                                        pro gay marriage
pro gay adoption                                          ?
pro cap and trade                                       pro cap and trade
pro tarp                                                           pro tarp
pro gun control                                             pro gun control
pro amnesty                                                   pro amnesty
pro raising taxes                                          pro raising taxes
socialized heathcare                                   socialized heathcare
believer in global warming                          believer in global warming

Most conservatives are smart enough to look at what people DO and not what they say. Romney’s fake pro life and pro family stands were for the primary. In his own words, he said he was for one thing, then said and or DID the opposite.  Romney can’t be trusted to keep his word.

-Romney refused to go to ONE pro life or pro family event. He said conservatives will vote for him. He is arrogant and not a conservative. At least Obama respects his people enough to go to their events and ask for their votes.

-Romney overruled his own Commissioner of Public Health and lied about state law in order to compel Catholic hospitals to issue abortifacient pills.

-Romney aggressively BOOSTED government funding for pro-homosexuality indoctrination. Parents could not opt out their 5 yr olds from indoctrination.

-Romney forced all adoption agencies in MA to let gays adopt innocent children. The Catholic Church had to stop Catholic Charties Adoption Services after doing it for 109 years.

-Romney refused to sign the pro life pledge.

-Raised taxes/fees over 300% while being Governor of MA.

-Implemented a state-level Cap and Trade system.

-Supported Man-Made Global Warming.

-Supported the Brady Bill.

- Implemented a state level “Assault” Weapons Ban after the Federal
