...go read Psalm 2. If you’ve got a couple of hours, go read the Book of Esther. Psalm 2 in particular puts things in perspective.

Thank you. I will definitely check that out.

The exact form of the design is not readily apparent, but the agenda here is defeating the GOP nominee.

So, if Sarah or Newt were the presumptive nominee, you believe that the dialogue would be similar?

This place has become an Obama campaign website and it is by design. The exact form of the design is not readily apparent, but the agenda here is defeating the GOP nominee. That is what Free Republic now is.

And yet here you are ...

Read the recent news stories about Romney’s press releases following the Supreme Court decision last week. The first day, he cleared something on the order of 4 million dollars in campaign contributions, largely in response to some decently said things. No complaints here on that. But look at the ones just a couple days later, and what he said in those, about obamacare. Since I have been speaking generally here, I thought it prudent to include something more specific here. This is a bit lengthy, not terribly so, and covers a number of peeps on the right about this, from here (http://themoderatevoice.com/151897/romney-balks-at-using-health-care-issue-upsetting-conservatives/)

A couple things: I speak for myself, and, where proper, for my family. It’s an easy insult to bring up media matters, or accusations of doom and gloom. I don’t advocate staying home. Obama needs to go. BUT SO DOES ROMNEY. He is effectively obama-lite. There are alternatives, though none are all that great. A man who refuses to repudiate doing obamacare writ small, at state level, doesn’t gain credibility with me on removing a large fraternal twin to his best-known piece of Massachusetts-love. Especially when he soft-pedals about it. You’re free to disagree with me, as I am free to disagree with you. I will not castigate you, though, and I’d appreciate the same respect being shown. I’ve voted republican since being able to vote, by the way.

Oh, and just so we’re clear on this: just because he’s the candidate-presumptive doesn’t make Romney conservative. Taking conservative stands on issues and acting on those make that happen. At this point, we have a former governor who made the literal prototype for obamacare, and hasn’t repudiated it yet. He’s moved some to the right. Some. We have a sitting administration which is intent on completing the job they’ve largely done, of dismantling this once-great country, and they must go. And then we have a current-day republican party more concerned with not losing ground than fielding a strong conservative candidate. None of that gives any assurance that Romney, if elected, will renounce the big brother to his own legacy and throw off the yoke of obamacare.

Your aim is to denigrate Jim Robinson and FreeRepublic because you are a Romney hireling.

Your nastiness is not convincing anyone of anything except the other MittBots. We went through this crap with MittBots in '07-'08 and guess what? MITT LOST! And he will lose again. He was the chosen one as a republican candidate by the Obama administration. They haven't even begun to pound him.

I believe we as a country are basically finished. The ruling on Obamacare sealed it. Still, I will vote in November.

You are correct..we as a nation are in the final stages of collapsing. The last act will occur on 1 January, 2013. The Bush Tax cuts expire and the tax increase to fund zerocare kicks in. The lines on the graph cross at that point. They will not extend the tax cuts, they need the revenue and they will kill zerocare for the same reason.

I will not vote this year..it just does not matter anymore..

“I think they may have been taken from FRs no longer with us. Or, who knows, Hostile op research may have even gone back that far. FR is highly effective.”

Or perhaps Occam’s Razor applies and you are amongst many long-standing conservatives who are realists and see the horrific circumstances and want to talk about it all amongst like minded people. This country has been heading downhill for a long time and it looks to alot of us that we’re hitting the bottom. I assume most would agree? The question now becomes what to do about it and that’s were discussion is had. That hardly makes any part of the equation some “infiltrators” sent by Soros. It really isn’t all a conspiracy...at least in most cases.

“A MAJORITY of Americans want it repealed. “

A MAJORITY of Americans didn’t want it to begin with. If that mattered a damn, we wouldn’t have it.

What’s your point? That what Americans want matters?

LOL

When the shooting starts - and it will - Romney and his minions will be on the same side as Obama.

But there will be some Romney backers who will claim to be on the conservative side. They should not be accepted and integrated, but forced to form their own group as surely many of them will be so weak as to be useless if they are not just outright traitors.

re: Oh, and just so we’re clear on this: just because he’s the candidate-presumptive doesn’t make Romney conservative.

GW was not a conservative. He and Laura has a thinly disguised disdain for conservatism. Heck, he also had a certain contempt for the South. He once denied that Texas was a Southern State. I always thought that what Laura wanted most was an invite to Hyannis Port. She was same-sex, pro-choice, and like her squad of personal servants to be illegal aliens. I know this type of "conservative" in Texas.

What we potentially have now is something we haven't had...ever...a conservative First Lady.

This is more important that you realize. We could really have something positive with Ann Romney.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was Mrs. Roberts that got that idiot John to change his vote. She probably likes her status at the country club.

Don't underestimate the power of wives. We don't talk enough about wives. I hear about Laura Bush having "class" just because she stayed home, kept her mouth shut and read a lot of novels. She also was behind Harriet Myers and Bush's amnesty and probably picked John Roberts.

You are telling me something obvious when you say Romney is not a conservative. But it is a lie to say that there is not a clear choice. And we've had a lot of RINOs around since Reagan--

I think our problem with Bush was that we gave him a lot of loyalty that he never deserved, but was happy to use!

Romney doesn't have that loyalty unless he earns it.

So, if Sarah or Newt were the presumptive nominee, you believe that the dialogue would be similar?

The hate towards both Newt and Sarah were, and still are, palpable.

Romney gets the hate now because he is front and center.

'Course, being a dickwad doesn't help his cred all that much.

Do you spend much time reading the posts at the Bigs at Breitbart, or the posts on Huffpo and POlitico?

There is a vast army of posters, and I believe a LOT of them are paid.

I believe this because it is such a darned easy thing to do, and so very cheap! And there's your razor.

If I were John Podesta at Center for American Progress, I'd have a nice chunk of my bodacious tax-exempt budget set aside to pay people to manage appearances all over the internet. To create perceptions...remember how Obama did it in 2008--how he used "social media" as if that were somehow brilliant?

Why would he have stopped doing that?

How much would it cost to hire a few stoners from "gender studies" at Rutgers to devote a few hours to psy-ops on the net? Minimum wage? How many personas could they have on a single forum? How smart would they have to be?

I think the razor cuts my way, not yours.

I wouldn't go so far as acusing them of being paid by Soros & Co. I think it's more about ego: to feel superior and earn the right to say, "I told you so". So, they do have interest in 0bama reelection. Since they don't see any difference between 0bama and Romney in the first place, a Romney lost would at least mean something for them.

This is such BS, Ann B is simply allowing herself to be a tool for the media that wants a conservative circular firing squad.

I've never been a Mitt fan, but Romney has never gone back on his stated goal to overturn Obamacare. He said it way before the ruling this past week, and said it again after the ruling. You can pretend he has, or pretend "he's changed", or pretend "he's never changed", or pretend he has a secret plan to institute Romney Care on the nation.

But it's all paranoid pretense, and she should know better. IT's bad enough around here without posting BS like this.

Beware of DU trolls here on FR telling us all is lost, stay home, and don't vote.

Anyone, even Romney, in the White House would be better than Obama and his well known terrorists, criminals, perverts, racists, and anti-American Communists.

Staying home on election day is not an option.

See 73, made my argument there.

I saw the Soros stuff all over the net in 08. I actually see LESS of it this time around! It's cruder and easier to spot, too. The dirty little secret is that Obama can't get the young all hot for him, which hurts the social media presence.

FIGHT AT THE CONVENTION FOR AN ACCEPTABLE CANDIDATE!

Please elaborate. How does one go about doing that?

The delegates to the convention have already been chosen. Romney already has more than enough pledged delegates to win the nomination on the first ballot. That is to say that Romney is bringing 1,462 pledged delegates to the convention with him who are required to vote for him on the first ballot. You only need 1,144 delegates to clinch the nomination.

So aside from death, disqualification or incapacitation, nothing will stop Romney from securing the nomination on the first ballot. We can smuggle Sarah Palin into the convention hall in a giant cake and have her burst out of it in a Stars & Stripes leotard and bring down the house with a baton-twirling routine. Yet, Romney will still get the nomination on the first ballot.

Our only real chance to stop Romney (and not get Obama) is to run a credible third party candidate. End of story.

Right now, I see no credible third party alternative and we are already into July. So I think the window of that opportunity is just about shut.

So in all seriousness, at this stage of the game, can any Freeper out there give us a plausible alternative to Romney - that does not result in an Obama second term?

Don't give me any pie-in-the-sky scenarios. I'm only looking for a real alternative here.
