Happy Independence Day, Everyone!!

Praise God for his precious gift of freedom!!

"The God who gave us life gave us Liberty!!"

And our Founding Fathers fought off the tyrants of old and gave us Independence!!

And in doing, so established the first and only nation on earth to formally recognize that we are all created equal by God and granted by Him certain unalienable rights, including the rights to Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness!!

"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness."

We the people created this government and granted it certain enumerated and restricted powers and left all else to the states and the people.

"That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed,..."

And no, Mr. pResident, the purpose of our federal government is not to rule be executive decree, or to rule over the people, or to be a nanny state. The primary purposes of our federal government is to defend the constitution (as written, amended and ratified), defend our nation, defend our borders, maintain the federal judiciary, manage the District of Columbia, run the post office, etc, and DEFEND our God-given UNALIENABLE rights!!

"We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America."

We are a sovereign nation among nations and we have sovereign states within the nation, but we the people are the true sovereigns within the states and of this government. We the people are the final arbiters of all things regarding the constitution. If our government representatives run astray of the constitution, we elect different people (or try to) to represent us in the following elections. If they get too far out of hand, we impeach, recall or petition to get them expelled. And if our judges or justices fail to uphold the constitution, we must impeach them!

If a government goes totally out of control, the Founders established a remedy for that, too, and set it forth in the Declaration:

"That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness. Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security."

Pray it never comes to that, but it's there as a reminder. And on this Independence Day, it would behoove us all to read and reread the Declaration and the Constitution and then praise God for his many Blessings and ask for His Devine Guidance during this next election and throughout the following years. Our nation is deeply divided and is entering into a time of constitutional crisis that, thankfully, does not rise often.

We must not fail our Founders. We must not fail our God. We must not give up our sovereignty our our God-given inalienable rights! We must secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our POSTERITY!

Surrender to despotism?

Not on MY watch!!

We do not retreat, we reload!!

"Resistance to tyrants is Obedience to God."

We are the resistance!!

We've been having very hot weather the last few weeks. One good thing about it is that it tends to encourage afternoon thunderstorms, and thus rain. The bad thing is that those storms can provoke tornados, which tend to sprout in the western part of the state. We are in the middle.

A year ago last month we had a very destructive tornado in the Springfield area. It came across and fell apart very close to us.

We've had so many thunderstorms this spring and summer. Do we live in the Tropics? :)

I have to say that this winter was such a relief. Very little snow, and such mild weather, comparatively speaking.

Wowsers! Been an interesting couple of hours here in East Tennessee. Weather almost never comes down from the North to hit us, but did this time. Heavy rain and big time winds.

Our lights flickered but never went out thank goodness. Knoxville Utilities Board serves about 200,000 households in the area, and almost 50,000 of them were without power a little while ago. I don't envy all the repair crews that will probably be out all night long.

Our eldest daughter lives about 2 miles away and is still without power since about 1 A.M. Saturday.

We’re in the sticks and tend to lose power. Or have transformers explode. We have 3 close by.
