Please define CONSERVATIVE.

There are way too many people who love “Compassionate Conservatism” and its approach to ever large Federal G’ment and concomitant bureaucracy. Both Bushes fall into this category.

Read my lips - No new Taxes, (David Souter)

No Child left behind (A favorite of Ted the swimmer) (Roberts)

For the rest of you - If the above is acceptable why is Obama not acceptable?

And I do see Mittens as a re-incarnation of the Bushes

Yes, dismal indeed. Except for Jindal, some of our dimmest wimps and some of the Left’s loudest mouths.

This just adds to the pool of voters who receive benefits from the government.

I haven't done an exact calculation, but I am going to guess that if the average poor person in this country had to find a job and replace all the government benefits with an actual paycheck, that poor person would probably have to make around $30-35,000 per year before taxes. I'm sure somebody might have already worked that calculation out, but I have never seen it.

No wonder then that poor people have no incentive to find a job that probably does not exist in the market today.

Add that to around 6,000,000 people who have dropped out of the American work-force during Obama's term so far, and Obama wanting to put 800,000 illegals into the work force, and it will be very difficult for anybody to remove the idle from the benefit gangs.

if this guy friend was a long-time situation, is he the same guy who took the fall for Barney's prostitution ring that was run out of the apartment?

No, that is so last century. I believe his name was Gary Studs, that had to be 1000 packers ago.

The nation’s workforce expanded by 189,000 in June, 85,000 were added to social security’s disability rolls while only 80,000 unemployed found jobs, and Obama calls it a “step in the right direction”. Anyone who thinks he deserves another four years must be getting all their news from MSNBC.

Part of the problem here besides the take it or leave it attitude,my way or the highway,is that we are all at different levels of participation. There are those here who make mainstream journalists look like rookies. Its very possible they have a hard time mixing with others who are at a very base level. Some here are so far ahead of what we read or see on TV that it has to be a frustrating experience to know what is coming up yet watch the DBM purposely not cover it or FNC not get there as quick as we do.

Then you have the fact that we are living under a communistic regime that is so easy for us to see/diagnose and yet a high percentage of the populace perhaps 48% just don't get it.And, are too lazy to do the research we have done.

FR has never tolerated ignorance very well and we tolerate it even less today.

This place may be down today but not out.

While FR may remain a take few prisoners type of site those who are successful here learn enormously and have the respect of many in their community. The two just follow.

Washerwoman is trying to tell everyone is doing well in the Obama meltdown. Detroit is the crown jewel of his economy and America needs to look more like that.

Romney is evil who will drag us back to Bush’s 4% unemployment.

Pray for America

Why do you persist? They have closed ranks. They are going to eat what they’re served, no matter how it tastes, but you’re just making it worse by reminding them what it is.
Get with the program and help them forget! :)

I know it’s not your fault, Alas, but have you ever seen a more pathetic lineup?

I just saw Debbie Wasserman Schulze and she is as ugly as ever. She just really started in on Mitt Romney but I left.

I don’t trust our man with the extremely odd name to counter her well.

But we’ll see.

"If the above is acceptable why is Obama not acceptable?"

Because Obama is a Marxist wanna be dictator. The policies you described, though undesirable, are hardly going to destroy the country. Obama will. He is doing this through Marxist supreme court justices, regulatory violations of the constitution, criminal justice department policies, violations of voting privileges, and worse. No Republican advocates anything remotely like this.

You Tom are a perfect example of just how good Freepers are and can be.Few anywhere will be able to explain what is really going on in the axelrod/Jarreett kabal that hides anything and everything that can possibly harm the regime.

Great explanation.

Zero keeps claiming over 4 million jobs created. How many were lost and what is the true number of created after those lost?

Also what is the true unemployment number including all those unemployed even the ones who have stopped looking.

Good essay Bray.

I’m so sick of that stupid Obama, YEAH I SAID IT! If he were near me in striking distance I’d reach out and punch him in the face for constantly talking silly nonsense about how well we are doing.

This economy is so bad it sickens.

I was quite intrigued over that interesting stat re disability claims recently being so darn high.

Like Rush Limbaugh said last week, softly....”You gotta eat.”

This rise in SS disability claims is no surprise. It’s the BEST way to be assured of a regular check each month PLUS health insurance.

Just need to be disabled is all.

There’s the rub. “Disabled” is a substantive term after all.

Again, like Rush pointed out, all you gotta do is get a lawyer. Almost ANYBODY can get a disability classification nowadays, so long as one is ready to go six months without money and willing to slug it out.

Bi-polar is a good one. Can’t prove it, go nuts enough times to disallow a steady job, maybe enter some kind of rehab program.

It’s anecdotal but folks, by coinkydink, all around me I’ve known several folks who’ve gone on disability and by me, none of them were all that handicapped.

Still and so, for example, one guy had a motorcycle accident when he was in his 20’s.

Terrible thing, messed his leg bad, but he returned to work and worked very hard for many years. He’s a bricklayer, now in his 50’s and....well I dunno, he just can’t get a steady job. And when he does he’s got all kinds of problems doing it as bricklaying, while a well-paying job, is tough work.

In exasperation he applied for SS disability and he got it and frankly he probably should have. He likely could have been collection disa all his life but he could get work, he was young.

Another guy I know (these are boyfriends of my nieces)...nice guy, worked all his life. Same thing. He’s close to 60, always had health issues but he too worked and supported his family.

He got laid off, he’s 60, he’s got health issues that are bad enough, obviously, to have him collect SS disa. IF he was still employed I suspect he would keep on working.

Point is that the economy is effectively culling down those older, not so hale and hearty folks, onto the disability rolls.

IE, it’s another sign of a failing economy.

Again, my stories are anecdotal but I suspect fairly typical.

People are dropping out of the work force and like Rush says, they gotta eat.

Well, Jindal was on last week and is back.

You may be right.

I’ve never seen him in action and I meant to watch last week but was so disgusted at everything I just deleted the shows without watching.

Maybe I’ll be a better girl today.

Well you made me smile in muse.

How about it takes a village to raise a child? That’s a socialistic notion if ever there was one.

And Barney Frank got married? I musta missed my invite!

Also why does he start counting 28 months ago? He has been in office 42 months.
