There's something vaguely visible in my mind's rear view mirror.

Maybe they were brought over to combat some kind of American virus...maybe Dutch Elm or something that these birds eat the bacteria or something?

Something to that effect I think.

And yeah, gubmint bureaucrats handling such a thing. The mind boggles.

dammit, Fish, the DP has short term memory loss as well.

The English sparrow could barely survive in England for some reason but they were imported to this country because it was believed they would help clean up garbage in the streets ... this was back in the horse days.

I don’t know if the government did it directly or it was some group trying to help us that did it with government approval.

Will look up later. It’s kind of interesting. I think the same thing is true of the starling.
