O-k, here's my sad CZ82 story.

My slide is locked back about 3/4 of the way and frozen solid. I'm mean downright seized up.

This happened to me once before about two weeks after I bought it. I was just firing away at the indoor range when all of a sudden the slide came back and just froze in about the 3/4 way position (not quite far enough for the slide release to catch). The armorer at the range fought with it and all he managed to do was scratch up the finish (which I fixed later). Anyway, that time I took it home and somehow got the slide to free up enough that I was able to remove it. I immediately noticed a pin sticking out that would be rubbing in the guide track on the slide and frame (I'm fairly certain it was the ejector pin). I tapped the pin all the way back in place and it worked perfectly.

Since then, I've probably run close to another thousand rounds through it without any problems. Until yesterday. The wife and I were back at the indoor range to put some more break-in rounds through her LC9. When we were done shooting the other pistols I got the CZ out to enjoy some easier more accurate shooting. On the third magazine it suddenly seized up. I immediately recognized the symptoms from almost a year ago.

I brought it home with me and no matter what I try I can not get the slide to budge. I can't get it to move rearward or forward. I can't get it to move with the disconnect pulled down or up. In desparation, I finally turn the gun upside down and clamped the slide in a vise. I covered the grip with a towel to minimize marks and then proceeded to smack it with a 5 lb. hand sledge hammer. It won't budge. I've tried soaking it in WD40 and CLP and smacking it. Nothing.

I think I'm screwed. I won't be able to take it to a smith until next weekend because I'm traveling all week for work. But quite frankly, I don't know what a smith could do that I haven't already tried.

I'm bummed. It's definitely my favorite pistol. May have to buy another one.

That’s beyond weird.
The CZ 82 is a complex pistol, but I have never heard of this.

I do notice mine has a little “hitch” 1/4 of the way when I rack the slide.
I assume that is when the trigger cocks.

I have 4 pistols beside me.
Ruger LC9, SW 442, Sig Mauser M2 and a CZ 82.

Guess with one I would reach for first?

I Love that CZ

The good news is you can get another one for under $200

Widener's has a shipment in of very nice ones, holster, extra mag, cleaning rod. I was over there to pick up powder the otehr day and they have nice still wrapped in plastic ones. The one I picked up and removed from plastic really didn't look used! Selling for around 220, IIRC. C&R guns
