You have the evidence?

Good.

Why did Zimmerman get out of his SUV?

Did he take one step towards Martin? Or more than one?

Since you have the facts, tell us what Martin thought when he saw this SUV stalking him. Did he have any fear?

What did he think when the guy got out of the SUV?

By the way, Wendy, the subject of this thread is a good example of what can happen when a vehicle stops and a guy jumps out of it. Martin because he was a street person, knew that.

No, I don’t know exactly what happened but I am pointing out that it is a lot more complicated than most people think and if the truth is ever to be known, all of these avenues will have to be explored. To simply say that Martin was a thug, which I don’t doubt, and that Zimmerman is a hero, which I do doubt, is being overly simplistic.

Remember that regardless of who is the hero and who is the villain, the law must be followed. You can shoot someone, no matter how wicked he is, only under certain clearly defined circumstances.

You successfully point out that the facts (including some you assumed up-thread) are unknow.

As to use of deadly force being legal in only certain cases? The only phyisical evidence matches Zimmerman’s story that he was getting his head bashed in. Unless facts - not supposition- show he started the physical confrontation, that’s one of those cases. Even if he was verbally threatening or abusive. To wit: you are not allowed to bash someone’s head in for being mean.

I repeat: Zimmerman should never have got out of his SUV.

What utter crap. Please stop repeating yourself. Zimmerman was doing his job—defending civilization. It's in fact every man's job. Martin was a criminal, acting like a criminal, as Zimmerman's contemporaneous comments to the 9-11 operator indicate. Zimmerman told the operator he was trying to see where Martin was going, and I don't see any reason to disbelieve him.

Trying to talk yourself (and everyone else) into the idea that everything will be all right if only we don't rile the jackals is inaccurate as well as cowardly. Property crime and violence are both crimes of opportunity: Give thugs an inch, and they just take another mile of territory.

Confronting evil in a dangerous neighborhood is an honorable and appropriate thing to do. Sometimes you have to fight, and sometimes the thug will die. (And sometimes the good guy will.) You have to face the fact that our times really are difficult. Zimmerman was acting on your behalf. We can't afford to take your attitude if we want to get the chaos under control and reclaim our country, where the innocent have rights, rather than the feral half-men who prey on the poor—white, black, and "white Hispanic."
