TSA Invades Chicago's Union Station

Citizen video tapes TSA setting up checkpoint at Chicago's Union Station.

"As I entered Chicago's Union Station back on July 5th, I noticed 3 Fully Uniform TSA Agents sitting inside the office of Amtrak Police. I took out my cell phone and started to follow these TSA agents, and it appeared to me that they were setting up a Check Point for Amtrak Riders. This is just another example of how TSA expanding their operations and entering Train Stations, Bus terminals, and major sporting and concert events. Will Americans allow TSA to bring their intrusive Pat Downs on the road or finally take a stand and say NO!!"

The Heritage Foundation has an excellent report about the forty or so terrorist plots foiled in the U.S. since 2001. I suspect that you’d be surprised at some of the targets. baaah

Then that is the argument to make, instead of blathering some nonsense.

Actually, that is the argument he made.

You blathered the nonsense in a purely emotional panic-support of an all-out police state.

“Aw shucks . . . facts bother you also? It’s ok to hate the TSA, just don’t be so gd stupid about it. Train lines and stations are targets of Al-Q. Fact.”

FACT is thanks to people like you, TSA and the government in general will continue to expand into every aspect of our lives.

Al-Q wants to kill us all so using your surrender logic everyone needs their own TSA agent standing by.

Rather than being a cheese eating surrender monkey and not offend some 6th century sand monkeys by violating the 4th Amendment rights of every LEGAL USA citizen, we need to PURGE the country of these vermin. They are growing in numbers and the problem will only get worse with the TSA invading more and more of our everyday life.

So you think #6 is a valid argument? And I’m the one that’s being emotional for pointing-out that terrorists have been targeting trains for decades?

What a clown parade.

Sorry, I’d rather be on the first bombed aircraft in flight, than be subject to gestapo tactics in my own nation.

The TSA has made it more clear than I ever could why.

I don’t fly unless it is impossible to travel other ways. Looks like I won’t be riding any more trains either.

Next I expect to have checkpoints on our highways. At that point, we will be a full blown police state on the level of NAZI Germany. We’re almost there now.

Show me your papers...
State your business...
What’s in your car...
Where are you going...
Where are you coming from...
What are your relatives names...
Who do you know...
Where do you work...

So now I've morphed into a defender of the TSA. For pointing-out that terrorists attack train stations. The stupid, it burns.

I simply stated a fact, and everyone feels the need to point out the slippery slope that I already see. Yet they cannot see how dumb post #6 was.

You evidently don't drive around in the southwest very much as there are countless "Border Patrol" checkpoints on primary and secondary roads already and the number is increasing.

You were the one who tried your best to live up to your screen name.

The rag heads will try to kill us anywhere not just airports and train stations and it is NOT a knee jerk reaction to push back and push back hard against the TSA as long as they continue to violate our 4th Amendment rights. To ignore the encroachment of government into our everyday lives is stupid. For the children, for your safety, classified... all the typical excuses used by government to usurp more and more power will not be tolerated by many of us and to call it a knee jerk reaction is stupid beyond belief.

The actions of the TSA need to be challenged via the 4th Amendment at airports, train stations, bus stations or anywhere they try to setup their gestapo force.

Yikes... I was no fan of the creation of the TSA and the takeover of the airports, for starters... It wasn’t an airport security failure that led to 9-11. Those box cutters were perfectly legal to carry then. Heck... I always carried a fair sized folder whenever I flew back then.

That said... A dislike for the TSA is not a reason to think there should be no security attention at all on other forms of transportation like trains or buses. Thinking of Madrid... Yes, it should be tougher to walk onto a crowded train with a backpack full of explosives... Tougher than just moving through a turn style with a ticket. Having that thought doesn’t make somebody a boot-licker.

How common is train hijacking? How often do terrorists drive trains into buildings?

About as common as driving ferrys into buildings. A few months ago I heard some friends had to go through a TSA search at the Galveston (Texas) ferry. It's a little 15 minute free state run ferry that runs between Galvestion island over to Port Bolivar and is mainly used by tourists to go across and turn around to get in line to return again. The wait in line is longer than the ride. I'm guessing the TSA was doing a test run since I haven't heard more about it. But even a test run brings up questions.

It’s ok to hate the TSA, just don’t be so gd stupid about it. Train lines and stations are targets of Al-Q. Fact.

A bomb in a backpack will kill maybe a dozen people. Somebody wants to do damage and kill people, he doesn't need to get ON a train -- he just needs to put something heavy enough to cause derailment on the tracks somewhere.

What's special about Amtrak that couldn't also be done on subways, buses or commuter rail?

This is all about conditioning people to accept control.

Good Lord. I mean, really. When I get home, I’ll post a link to the Heritage study. Subways (in the US) have been targeted multiple times. I’m on a cel phone, now.

The TSA won’t molest the gangs, they’ll pick out the white people to molest.

“You don’t professionalize unless you federalize”

The three in that video would not make the cut for most Mall Cop squads.

Buses, subways -- it is simply not feasible to have security checkpoints at every subway entrance or bus stop. It is not feasible to have security checkpoints at every mall entrance.

The only thing that IS feasible is to recognize that the source of the problem is radical Muslims, and get them out of the country.

Actually, I don’t really see post six as being out of line. I don’t know of a single terrorist related attack on U. S. soil involving a train in the last 100 years. Perhaps I’m forgetting something, but I don’t believe I am.

As for the Spain attack, I think you’re forgetting one thing. You achieve nothing by focusing on riders. You can strip folks naked, take everything away from them, and have them put on new clothes, before they board. All a person has to do is place a bomb anywhere on a three hundred mile track to achieve their goals.

Why do we allow people from terrorist states to come here? Why do we allow people who attend subversive anti-American meetings on a regular basis ride our aircraft or trains? Why don’t we deport the ones we can? Why don’t we deport just the leaders that preach this stuff?
