Professor: 'Jesus was a Muslim'
Campus Reform ^

Posted on 07/11/2012 2:32:01 PM PDT by oliverdarcy

The head of the religion department at Luther College in Iowa recently argued that Jesus Christ, the central figure of Christianity, was in fact, a Muslim.

“‘Was Jesus a Muslim?" asks Prof. Robert F. Shedinger in the beginning of a book he published this year entitled Was Jesus a Muslim? " I will answer with a very qualified yes."

In a recent interview Shedinger also defended his controversial thesis explaining that a Muslim undergraduate student had sent him on academic odyssey that culminated with him asking himself "Was Jesus a Muslim?"

"Even as a Christian I have to answer yes to that," said Shedinger, who is the head of the religion department at Luther College in Iowa.

Shedinger also argued that Islam is a better fit for Jesus since it is not a religion but a “social justice movement.”

Others would have you believe that Jesus’ true church did not arrive until the 1800s.

Amazon Best Sellers Rank: #1,230,432 in Books

Must be selling like hotcakes to his students who have to purchase the book. He does get two 5 star reviews - probably from students who want a good grade.

You believe Islam is a “social justice movement”?

It is. The Baath party that was once common in the mideast was a socialism based political party. Take a look at the Hamas covenant which is widely seen as the model islamic constitution.

Check out article 20 (social mutual responsibility)

This is what people mean when they say that if you're too open-minded, your brains fall out.

Not every idea is worthy of consideration ...

I remember hearing a Black Muslim co-worker telling her friends that Christianity was only 700 years old. :? Never mind the fact that our calendar was dated around 2,000 years after the coming of Christ.

Blame the schools. This sort of thing can only happen when they quit teaching what AD means.

“I would say that such a claim constitutes heresy.”

I would say that such a claim constitutes amazing stupidity.

“Muslim” derives from words literally meaning “one who submits to God”, so in the sense of word origins only, Jesus was Muslim. Of course, in that sense, no one who follows Islam is also a Muslim. We need a word for “one who submits to Shaitan” to describe those who follow the pedophile. Life is much easier though if we use words with their current meanings. Jesus was a Jew, those who follow the Word of Jesus are Christians, and those who follow the Koran might as well be called Muslim, since that word has completely lost its literal meaning.

Yeah, and I’m Captain James T. Kirk of the Starship Enterprise.

Didn't you know that John Paul Jones commanded the U.S.S. Enterprise and Christopher Columbus was an astronaut? ;)

Dopey beyond cred. There are like 97 assumptions that have to be adopted to follow this.

Prof. Robert F. Shedinger....

Just think, there’s a good chance this incompotent moron is - even at this moment - driving a few thousand pounds of metal down the road.

Pretty scary.

Didn't you know that Martin Luther was a NASCAR driver? ;)

[To get away from my pokiness, mythical thinking of that prof's sort is symptomatic of a closed society.]
