Obama: My Biggest Mistake Was Failure to 'Tell a Story'

President Obama's biggest mistake in his first term? Republicans probably have a quick answer involving the words "health care," but Obama himself got a little abstract about the subject in an interview with Charlie Rose of CBS:

• "When I think about what we've done well and what we haven't done well, the mistake of my first term—couple of years—was thinking that this job was just about getting the policy right. And that's important. But the nature of this office is also to tell a story to the American people that gives them a sense of unity and purpose and optimism, especially during tough times."

• "It's funny—when I ran, everybody said, 'Well he can give a good speech but can he actually manage the job?' And in my first two years, I think the notion was, 'Well, he's been juggling and managing a lot of stuff, but where's the story that tells us where he's going?' And I think that was a legitimate criticism."

• When Rose asked him whether he meant he needed to explain himself better, Obama replied, "explaining, but also inspiring."

• Mitt Romney: In a quick response spotted by the Weekly Standard, he says the presidency isn't "about telling stories," it's "about leading."

Obama: My Biggest Mistake Was Failure to 'Tell a Story'

Geez, Barry. You've been doing nothing but telling stories your whole life.

You misunderstood. The Mombasa MF couldn't SELL a story.

Ain't nobody with a brain buyin' the boy's stories. This is a national intelligence test.

That would a great campaign ad.

That would be a great campaign ad, if Romney had a campaign. Or if his advisers weren't metrosexual RINO wimps who are trying to out-democrat Democrats.

Romney is one mighty weak cup'o'coffee. Plain vanilla. No syrup. Not tough enough take the chopped nuts from his opponent.

He keeps going like he's going, he's going to make Bob Dole's campaign look exciting.

That all depends on how you define “story”.

All he’s done so far is tell stories and destroy our lives.

No. His biggest mistake was that he told us TOO MANY stories.

Thinking about it, the last 3 1/2 years has been

One
Bad
Ass
Mistake,
America

to bring back the old slogan.

His biggest mistake is telling stories all along. Truth would be a change I could believe in.

I don’t know what Barry is talking about. He’s been telling us one story after another since the bass turd hit “rising star” status.

IIRC, there may be some Russian skin in the game. Are the items trucked to the Bekka Valley still up there? If someone hit that facility with the right bunker buster, who knows what would get out (including the story about how the Russian convoys moved Saddam’s WMDs out before the coalition troops rolled in).

He keeps going like he's going, he's going to make Bob Dole's campaign look exciting.

Well, my "story", and I'm sticking with it, is that the RiNO Imperium asked Mittens to step up and take one for the team while they hang the Dems with the RiNOs' dirty work. John McPain got in and got the nom four years ago when Mittens couldn't light up a wad of newspaper with a cutting torch. So Mittens finally gets his "turn" to fall on his sword, like noble Brutus, for the old-school multi-billionaires. (I said old school -- not your Buffetts and Jobses and Gateses, many of whom are Dims anyway.)

The job the Lords Ordainers want done -- and Bozo hasn't finished it yet, is to get Obozocare far enough along that the Fortune 500 can dump their employee healthcare plans and smash wages with green-card help and finally achieve "productivity parity" with the slums of Calcutta.
