Yikes! Now there is something that I've never heard. Taxpayer funded IHS (Indian Health Services)hospital really put the squeeze on their patients to force them onto state Medicaid. It's like the taxpayers are paying for those medical services twice.
This person was over 60 and kept talking about traveling to the VA for medical care. I naively assumed he was a vet and I asked him if his medical problems were service related. He looked at me as though I had 2 heads and sloooooooooowly stated:’No. I. Am. Low. Income.”
I guess it is logical, in this new world of ours, as the VA is Federally run and totally tax supported. I also read recently that VA docs make $189k/year, which, AFAIK, is more than a hospitalist makes and more than the net of most clinic docs. Read it on an FR post and have no other source, so I can’t vouch for it.
