Bill Kristol and the Obama campaign agree on something: Mitt Romney should immediately release his tax returns.
"He should release the tax returns tomorrow. It's crazy," Kristol said on "Fox News Sunday." "You gotta release six, eight, 10 years of back tax returns. Take the hit for a day or two."
The conservative commentator said the presumptive Republican presidential nominee then should give a speech on Thursday calling for a "serious" debate with President Barack Obama on capitalism, allowing the campaign to turn the page and put the focus back on the president's record.
Romney has only released his 2010 tax returns and estimated returns for last year, but he has refused to release additional documents even though it's been common practice for candidates to do so, prompting scathing criticism from the Obama campaign.

Bottom line is that Obama still isn't qualified to be President.
Either Maggie or Star found financial records way back last winter and tried to allert freepers that they would be an issue for romney. He was making several million a year after “leaving” the company . He has never really left it as he is still a partial owner with income from it each year.
We also found that John Huntsman, a cousin of MR.family’s business is also intertwined with Baine. That one of the women who was his right hand man at Bain is also involved with world economic groups.
Romney should ask Kristol to show him his? or Obama’s?
Im not a Romney supporter, but I do find myself compelled to defend him when the Left goes nut-job. I like your comments and think its the height of absurdity to see the Obama team demanding Romney reveal documents.Bill Kristol is not a left-wing nut-job.
Notice he says nothing about Obama releasing any of his records!
We already have a President wrapped in secrecy...we don’t need another.
Romney better get his sh** together, pronto, -cause the media smells blood.
And they're looking for any excuse to bury the GOP nominee.
He needs to announce his VP so that he/she can say stuff like that. Romney needs to look presidential himself and not look like the South Chicago thug he's running against. As for the tax returns ... they're probably as long as the Encyclopedia Britannica b/c of the mind-numbing complexity of the US tax code, he should release a few -- say three -- years of the first page of the return and that's it. He should also make a big show about releasing his college, law and business school transcripts, standardized test scores, passport and travel records, Social Security and draft registration, etc. And his birth certificate.
I remember when obama's qualifications were questioned during the last campaign Juan Williams said, I kid you not, he said with a straight face that (obama) "managing his campaign" is all the experience he needs.
I agree he should have known his tax returns would be brought up! He should produce them but only if obama produces his creds.
Romney: Kristol “Krazy” To Jump on The “Release Tax Returns” Bandwagon
Actually Romney only has to say one thing.
In the 2008 election, John McCain only released his tax returns for 2006 and 2007. No one had an issue with that.
So it seems odd that with a failing economy, a failed foreign policy and a failed energy policy Obama is focusing on the tax returns of his opponent and not his successes as President.
Then create the ad and run it on every MSM outlet.
He will never get my support whether he releases his tax records or whether he is trying to fulfill some stupid prophecy.
No, I wouldn't actually term him that either. If my comments inferred it, that wasn't my intention. I do get frustrated with guys like Kristol though. They hurt us in so many ways.
We have some great Conservative thinkers out there, and tragically Kristol takes up a slot one of them could do a lot of good with.
I don't know what drives guys like Kristol, and there are plenty of them out there. My guess is that they don't want to be seen as (God forbid), "a fringe rabid fundamentalist Christian Conservative." So what do they do? They look for things they can agree with Leftists on. The call for Romney to release more of his tax returns, why sure that's reasonable. "If I agree on this, they'll see me as reasoned." Why should anyone give a darn how the Leftists see them? And yet, Kristol and countless other Republicans do.
Okay great. Then call yourself a luke-warm moderate, and quit letting folks introduce you as a Republican Conservative, when you're not.
Bob Dull walks out on the capital steps one Friday afternoon and says, "Well, the government shutdown can't go on. Both sides need to find some way to compromise." Earlier in the day the media had been reporting that the White House was going to be burning the midnight oil all weekend, so that the government could move on. The emphasis was on the Clinton White House beginning to cave. So out walks Bob Dull, and completely destroys that premise. It was a betrayal of Newt Gingrich. It was a betrayal of the cause. Bob to this day still has no clue whatsoever, what he did.
I've seen Newt do this. I've seen Krystal, Bennet, Rove, Card, Lott, McCain, and countless others do it. At times these folks should be on the Democrat payroll, they're doing such a swell job for them.
This time it's Bill Kristol saying he blieves "Romney should" release more of his tax returns. And by saying this he gives credence to the Left's demands. At the same time he gives Obama a pass on his own document problems. Just like Dole, he actually aided the Leftists without the slightest clue what he was actually doing.
Add to this problem the issue of nobody being on the same page, and it's just amazing how juvenile Republican efforts are.
One Republican player says we shouldn't be doing something. Across the capital some other Republican walks up to a microphone and says something diametrically opposed. And in still another location, another Republican has a third view to express, and a camera crew dying to get it on video.
Everybody thinks themselves a genius. None of them have the slightest clue how they are destroying our momentum.
At the same time, the Democrats are using the same exact terms to frame the debate. Twenty media outlets punch out reports using those same terms on the same morning. Nobody but nobody issues a contradictory statement.
Who wins? Look at the direction our nation has been headed in for the last twenty years. You can thank these characters in no small part for that. When they figuratively stab people, it should be the enemy in the chest, not their own team members in the back.
I'm no Romney fan, but, for now, he is the only person who has a snowball's chance of beating Obama. And that is more important than worrying about some mythological white horse.
Remembr typing it all depends on what the meaning of "leave" is....several times.
Thank you Hoosiermama. I appreciate the comments.
Romney is another ‘step too far’ for me, and I won’t be voting for him. I do try to be fair to people, and with a crud like Obama in there, I am motivated to keep his claims and efforts fully exposed.
I obviously don’t find Romney worthy of my vote. I think he’s human crud too. Even though I don’t have a dog in this hunt, I cannot stand by idol and not refute what his minions are trying to imply about Romney.
Take him to task on RomneyCare, fair game. Take him to task on abortion, fair game. Take him to task on exercising Capitalist principles, and I’m just not going to allow it to take place in a void, especially in light of the damage Obama and this team have inflicted on Capitalism.
Baine is misdirection and little else IMO.
BTW: Hope you feel better soon.
Obama has a get out the vote facet he doesn’t even know about. My neighbors have never been too political. All five members of the family have made sure thier voter registration are up to date.....They plan to vote against 0....not for anyone.
Got a call into DR. Test done last week, waiting for results.
Won’t make a decision till VP is announced. Was about as unhappy with McCane at this time then Sara turned it around.
