Team Romney: "It's Time to Vet the President"
Townhall.com ^ | July 18, 2012 | Guy Benson

Between yesterday's fantastic speech and this BuzzFeed report, is the Romney campaign finally immersing itself in the 2012 bare-knuckles brawl? Pow:

In speeches from Des Moines to Dallas, Romney has always been careful to hedge his tough digs at Obama with a civil nod toward the president's moral character: "He's a nice guy," the Republican has often said. "He just has no idea how the private economy works." But Tuesday's speech included no such hedge — and one campaign adviser said there's a reason for that. "[Romney] has said Obama's a nice fellow, he's just in over his head," the adviser said. "But I think the governor himself believes this latest round of attacks that have impugned his integrity and accused him of being a felon go so far beyond that pale that he's really disappointed. He believes it's time to vet the president. He really hasn't been vetted; McCain didn't do it." Indeed, facing what the candidate and his aides believe to be a series of surprisingly ruthless, unfounded, and unfair attacks from the Obama campaign on Romney's finances and business record, the Republican's campaign is now prepared to go eye for an eye in an intense, no-holds-barred act of political reprisal, said two Romney advisers who spoke on condition of anonymity.

In the next chapter of Boston's pushback — which began last week when they began labeling Obama a "liar" — very little will be off-limits, from the president's youthful drug habit, to his ties to disgraced Chicago politicians.

It's damn well about time, I just hope he hasn't waited too long.

Well golly, I would have guessed the correct time would have been FOUR YEARS AGO but I am just a mere dirt chewing peasant that “didn’t do it on my own.”

What would I know?

Fracking Willard better get it in gear...

...."accused him of being a felon go so far beyond....

Drug use a felony
Forgery of documents a felony

It would be good if we could vet Romney at the same time and with the same standards of truth.

I would do it now, but also the evening of the first debate. Opening statement, pull a Newt. The MSM has carried Obama’s water for 4 long years. It is time they tell the truth because America is going down the crapper and they are hiding it from the American people.

Then walk off the stage.

"I just hope he hasn't waited too long."

Nah, just because we here and other political junkies are so involved doesn't mean the rest of the country is similarly engaged. The vast majority of this stuff is ignored by 70% of the country until after the Conventions. This election won't start rockin' until Labor Day and then it will be total insani8ty until the big day in Nov.

He can does this indirectly but effectively by asking Trump to hold a joint news conference with Arpaio!
Like him or loath Trump the MSM can't ignore him, if they try he creates his own “buzz”!

I think we may have finally got to him yesterday. My wife dragged me to the campaign event in Irwin, PA. When I agreed to go, there was only supposed to be about 200-300 people and I thought we might have a chance to fire some questions his way. Well over 1000 showed up and I don't think he could help but notice how many of us were wearing TEA Party gear. Every seat in the place was gone 20 minutes after the doors opened and it was standing room only.

Traffic was so bad getting out that we stopped at a McDonald's along US 30 to give it a chance to thin out.

We saw that CNN was already airing clips from the talk and the reporters were whining about how the campaign had grown personal and nasty, something which didn't happen until October in 2008.

Maybe we TEA Partiers helped Mitt find his stones in Pennsylvania.

We should hold all politicians to a high standard of truth since they will not do it themselves.

Newt never walked off stage—Stay and fight. Mitt has to show some grit or he will lose. No more free rides for the poser in chief just because he has a bit of black blood. Its not about race—its about Americanism and Capitalism.

I hope this report is right and Romney is taking the gloves off. He certainly had no qualms about doing that to his Republican opponents. If I hear "He's a nice guy..." one more time I may just lose my lunch. Obama is NOT a nice guy. He is a devious con artist who is hell-bent on destroying this republic. There is nothing nice about that.

I just hope he hasn't waited too long.

Given the microscopic attention spans of a majority of the current American electorate, it actually could be too soon.

Shame that more aren't as wise as Gandalf.

Why do you think The Donald backed down so meekly after all his show and bluster? I hear-tell he is still building and trying to sell units in a high-rise on the Chicago River. Why Trump even awarded the mangement position of the project to a TV show contestant...one of Holder’s people I hear.
