The problem is easily solves, if you do not want what a private industry is selling then don’t buy, you can always buy your own generator, or get solar or wind power, the world survived before AC/DC

Yeah, but "Back In Black" is still a great album.

“you can always buy your own generator”

Against the law here unless it is an emergency and power is out for hurricane or other natural disasters.

“Private Industry”? It’s a government enforced monopoly. When I can choose from a group of energy providers you will actually have a point.

I agree with you. If she doesn’t want the electricity, which she’s not entitled to, get her own form of electricity.

I had one installed just the other day and I’m not losing any sleep over it. We also have a generator.

Hopefully you’re joking. There is a good reason to be hooked up to the utility in just about every spot in the country - and it has to do with cost. You post reminds me of the nannies that tell us to come to a full stop at red lights, if we have problems with cameras there. I assume you also agree with them.

If you could buy it from someone else people would have a choice, but they are government approved monopolies so there is no free market choice. Otherwise you could get power from someone else.

But metering power usage and setting up a microwave transmitter on your property are two very different things. These people have no problem being metered, they never gave permission to have microwave transmitters set up on their property, much less big brother real-time observation of their usage habits. We already have evidence power companies are coming back to people trying to get on their cases for using more energy than their surrounding neighbors.
