Mayor Menino on Chick-fil-A: Stuff it
Boston Herald ^ | 7/20/12 | Greg Turner

Posted on 07/20/2012 7:04:34 AM PDT by GQuagmire

Vows to block eatery over anti-gay attitude... Mayor Thomas M. Menino is vowing to block Chick-fil-A from bringing its Southern-fried fast-food empire to Boston — possibly to a popular tourist spot just steps from the Freedom Trail — after the family-owned firm’s president suggested gay marriage is “inviting God’s judgment on our nation.”

“Chick-fil-A doesn’t belong in Boston. You can’t have a business in the city of Boston that discriminates against a population. We’re an open city, we’re a city that’s at the forefront of inclusion,” Menino told the Herald yesterday.

“That’s the Freedom Trail. That’s where it all started right here. And we’re not going to have a company, Chick-fil-A or whatever the hell the name is, on our Freedom Trail.”

“keeping business out of your shitty is no way to improve either employment numbers “

I considered the possibility that there is one restaurant slot available, and more than one company willing to fill that spot. Suppose one is the popular Chik-fil-A and another is a personal friend of the Mayor who donates to his campaign, who might need a little help getting in.

SOME food service is going in there for sure.

How does this imperious bustard get the idea that he alone can determine what businesses — and what ideologies — are allowed to exist in “his” city? I didn’t know that any commercial venture was required to pass a values test before being permitted to do business.

Try to stop them, you tyrannical vermin, and we’ll see you in court on an “obstruction of civil rights” violation.

Hm. Does Chick-Fil-A refuse to hire homosexual employees? Do they refuse to serve homosexual customers? No? Then perhaps Mayor Merino can tell us how Chick-Fil-A discriminates against homosexuals.

And perhaps he can also tell us how governmental refusal to permit someone to open up a business is not a direct and clear violation of the First Amendment.

And perhaps he can also tell us how governmental refusal to permit someone to open up a business based on their owner’s expressed moral views is not a direct and clear violation of the First Amendment.

The irony of someone saying they can’t have any freedom because they don’t believe as they do...

Yes serious, some of us do not have one in our area or even our state. If I happened to travel close to one I’d like to know if I should stop and eat there. I live in Wa and would have to drive 12 to 15 hours to get to the closest one. Now that I know the food is good if I ever went to Idaho I would consider eating there. Happy day to you : )

You can’t have a business in the city of Boston that discriminates against a population.

Discriminates? Have they refused service to homosexuals? Have the illegally denied employment to them? Have they posted "No Queers" signs at the door?

It seems that now speaking out your opinion about a "protected" class is discrimination instead of a First Amendment right.

Not only is it the most tasty it's the cleanest fast food joint in business, including the restrooms, which boast a tuxedoed shoeshine guy and a vast assortment of refreshing cologne for their patrons.

Is Chick Fil A any good?

I prefer them to all other fast food. The kids like their milkshakes.

I've never met any of their workers that I didn't like. Clean cut, polite, hard working. It's mostly a Christian business, as well. Not open Sundays.

how could he ever trust a guy who can't be trusted by his own wife.

Now THAT is a really, really good observation. 'Tis one to file away, I think.

“Freedom Trail.””

Sad that a communist hellhole like Boston thinks it is still about freedom.

You don’t get to be as huge as Chick fil a in the south

Friend of mine used to manage one. She said that a large portion of her business didn't even involve patrons at the restaurant. She sent several hundred sandwiches a day to be sold at the local hospital, and did a lot of catering-type things as well.

I'd love to get invested in one, those places have a license to print money.

Chick Fil-A has consistently good customer service and the restaurants are clean - two things you don’t usually find at a fast food restaurant.
