In times past when things were more rational than they are today people could use reasoning to see that in these types of situations responsibility for what happened also included the behavior of the girl and her actions were taken into account. Also, other than the girl crying rape I see no indication that the law thought that she was raped as I seriously doubt they would have let these guys get off on a misdemeanor if they had evidence of a real rape.
