LONDON (AP) -- Iran chef de mission Bahram Afsharzadeh says his country's athletes will compete against Israelis at the London Olympics.
Iran has been criticized in the past because some of its athletes withdrew from events against Israelis at the 2004 Athens Games and 2008 Beijing Games.
Afsharzadeh says "we will be truthful to sport."

Gee, that’s awful big of them. /s
Hope the Israelis kick their ass.
We’ll see if they actually do it. Go back to 2004 when Iranian judoka and two-time world champion Arash Miresmaeili was disqualified for being overweight before his bout against Israeli Ehud Vaks. The Iranian’s comments strongly suggested that he had intentionally disqualified himself rather than fight an Israeli. For that act of cowardice, in Iran, he was honored as if he had won the gold medal.
Unfortunately, it’s tough to prove that he did it deliberately, but if the I.O.C. had any balls in dealing with the Islamic nations, they would have thrown out Iran’s judo team, if not their entire Olympic team.
What's the Hebrew for "Jesse Owens"?
