Lee Atwater may be dead, but his spirit lives on.

It lives on in the body of Stephanie Cutter, the deputy manager of President Barack Obama's re-election campaign, who labeled Mitt Romney, as straight an arrow as you will find in politics, a felon and a criminal.

It doesn't get much dirtier than that. After that slander, there is nothing much else left for Cutter to call the Republican candidate for president, unless she wants to add that he just might be a pedophile as well. That would come as no surprise either, as Cutter seems determined to surpass the notorious Lee Atwater when it comes to slime, smear and slander, with a dose of malice thrown in.

And, since there is more than three months to go in this nasty campaign for president, Cutter has plenty of time to continue her attack on Romney's tenure at Bain Capitol -- false as it might be -- in order to avoid talking about Obama's miserable performance as president.

I remember hearing Lee Atwater in an impromptu radio interview 'back in the day', and he was asked why he attacked his opponents with such ferocity, and he said "that's just not true, I do the very same thing that President Harry Truman did, when people were shouting for him to 'give 'em Hell', all he did was tell the truth, and his adversaries thought it was Hell. It may be true that a lie can make it's way around the world a dozen times before truth gets out of bed, but in the end the truth is going to kick the living Hell out of those lies."

The entire nation should be trying to channel Lee Atwater right now lest these miscreants manage to steal the election. It needs to be a wipe out or their dirty tricks might come into play. We need the new Lee Atwater to show his face to all of us - today.
