Maybe the idea of gays in space is just so exciting that it has overwhelmed Sally Ride's eulogists, who really should be parsing her achievements in astrophysics, accident investigations and middle-school education, rather than trying to make hay out of her mellow lesbian romantic life.

Impossible to know for sure. I've been acquainted with a few women who have lesbian partnerships that were previously married and had families. Makes you wonder what the marriage breakup was like.

I’m wondering if anybody has done a study of the affects of long-term spaceflight as far as the incidence of Cancer? Seems to me that an awful lot of astronauts have died of relatively rare forms of Cancer. I know that radiation shielding & solar flare detection are major engineering efforts within NASA.

Actually most US astronauts are still alive and that’s even if you include the Mercury astronauts.
Of the 44 who have died so far, 26 have died in accidents, not just disintegrating shuttles but plane flights and motorcycle crashes, 10 from cancer, interestingly Stuart Roosa died at 61 from pancreatitis which is one of the risk factors for pancreatic cancer, 5 died from heart attacks, Karl Henize while climbing Mount Everest.
Other than John Swigert who had a tumor appear in his nasal cavity, there doesn’t seem to be anything statistically abnormal going on.

Many of the reports at your link are based on the ages of gays in studies or discussion panels, only a few studies attempted to quantify lower life expectancy or higher mortality, and that was in male homosexuals before HIV drugs. More importantly, you seem to be extending the health issues of male homosexuals - which are well known - to lesbians. There are differences, you know.
No back up for your definitive statement, that life expectancy of lesbians is 42 years.

Hate to tell you, but this is not a valid scientific study and would never make it into a peer reviewed journal. Basing survival statistics on ages published in obituaries from homosexual market newspapers vs. mainstream newspapers is not a good sample. Better luck next time.
You homosexuals are really something. You believe that being a homosexual somehow grants you an extended life span or that it’s at least as long as a non-homosexual’s, you demand proof of any other point of view, then won’t read it.
Why don’t you show me your evidence for how being a homosexual extends your life expectancy.

You're very quick to ad hominem attacks on people who disagree with you, because you are unable to support your statement with valid scientific evidence. I am heterosexual, and have always been heterosexual. I lost my beloved husband to cancer, and have some familiarity with cancer risk factors and mortality statistics.
Once again, male homosexuals do indeed have a high risk for shortened lifespan, everyone is aware of this (despite your accusations to the contrary). However, lesbianism is not a risk factor for pancreatic cancer. Your link has a 1998 paper from Dr. Cameron from the Family Research Council. Dr. Cameron references AIDs in the paper, for which lesbians have very low rates of transmission, while male homosexuals have high rates of transmission. Simplifying it for you: Male homosexuals have very different health issues from female homosexuals. Males homosexuals tend to get AIDs, while lesbians don't.
