I kind of understand quote approval agreement for an interview that is granted. It is because the media is now so dishonest they will deliberately twist words and massage the quotes to change the intent of what the interviewed person is saying. Everyone knows it and nobody wants to deal with it. The media allows it because they know it too.

Generally that would be true for Republicans. But I’ve would never expect the press to accept that kind of offer from Republicans. In fact, it would be a huge scandal were the offer made.
I would think Zero’s concern is more that he pops off without a teleprompter and that he only wants to be quoted when it’s part of the focus group tested messaging. And by and large the press is good with that.
