Pretty sure you CAN buy a fully auto AK-47...if you have enough money and want to fill out all the paperwork.

While you cannot buy a fully-automatic AK-47 without a Class III Federal Firearms Licence, you can buy a semi-automatic AK or AK-clone very easily. People even manufacture them here in the States. To wit:
