Has anyone ever heard of a massacre at a gun club?

Rush: 'Blaming Guns For Murder Is Like Blaming Forks For Obesity'

[caption id="attachment_56418" align="alignleft" width="300" caption="God and guns are the government's number one and two enemies making the individual irrelevant source of picture: freerepublic.com"][/caption]

Imagine if the Aurora gunman knew that people were carrying weapons in the theater like at a gun club. That would have put a lot of ice water on his passion to commit homicides en masse This author can't recall a single story where there was a massacre like in Colorado at a gun club. He can't even recall any kind of killing by a deranged gunman at any gun club.

We wonder why. Could it be that at a gun club everyone is packing a gun and that if a nut like the Colorado shooter started to pick people off  he would be dead in a quarter of a second. It's not the guns that create mass murders. It's the psychos. Psychopaths and generally severely deranged nuts like to kill defenseless people, but they are not so crazy as to try it at a gun club. Any person with visions of mass killing are clear on one thing. They want to do the killing and do not want to be killed. They are never as deranged as to try mass killing at a place where they know they won't have much of a chance to succeed or make it out alive.

There is a lesson here for the opportunistic Democrats who are now calling for a special session in Congress for greater gun control. Making people more and more defenseless is what got them killed at the theater to begin with. Honestly, Democrats are death centered people. Getting people killed seems to be what they are good at. They keep making the same case to make people more and more defenseless regardless of the costs to human life as in this discussion on ABC news. They never ever talk about enabling people to defend themselves but always about sacrificing them for the greater good.

Do you remember "Fast and Furious"? The conventional wisdom was that this was a scheme to flood the drug cartels with free guns so as to make a case for greater gun control. The massacre in the movie theater is another liberal opportunity to further gun control which accomplishes the opposite of what is promised namely the safety of the individual. The policy in the movie theater was that guns were not allowed under penalty of felony. The theater demanded that people walk into the theater completely defenseless and it did nothing to make sure adequate security was there. What juicy lawsuits this will make. Imagine, if a handful of people had been allowed to carry their firearms. What a different outcome we might have had when Gabrielle Giffords was shot in the head by a nut like the one in Colorado if people actually had carried guns. What a difference that would have made. Do you remember the Fort Hood massacre where a Muslim extremist did the same as the nut in Aurora? He too knew that everyone on this military base was not allowed to have guns. These nuts are not that crazy. They pick venues where they know people are defenseless to practice their slaughter. The point of mentioning Fast and Furious, the Aurora massacre, Gabrielle Giffords, and Fort Hood is that they all have the same thing in common. People are expected to make themselves defenseless in these venues by the government and when they are sacrificed they are used as props to make people even more defenseless with more gun control.

Now Democrats want greater gun control the very same policy that got these people killed. If all the guns were made illegal, crime would go up not down as was seen in Australia and England when guns were outlawed. Incidentally, Hugo Chavez just outlawed gun ownership in Venezuela and the country has become a total war zone where people are being slaughtered daily. The bad guys keep getting the guns in order to prey on the defenseless which the government has made them so.

For some reason, Democrats are more concerned with feel-good policies at the expense of the individual. Look at the gun control laws in Chicago another Democrat bastion. This month more than twice the number of people were killed in Chicago than were in Aurora and not a peep from the mainstream press. Why is that do you suppose? The city is a militarized zone and nothing is done whatsoever to empower the individual to defend himself. Why Democrats are so quick to sacrifice the individual to slaughter is mind boggling at times.  Perhaps, it is because liberals, aka democrats, aka socialists, aka Marxists are always enthusiastic to sacrifice the individual for the good of the collective using the main stream media as its willing accomplice . The individual is irrelevant to the liberal. In fact gun control has nothing to do with crime control and everything to do with keeping politicians safe at the expense of the rest of us and furthering their collective agenda.

There is a very distinctive pattern here. Gun control advocates never think about making people safer. They always focus on making people more defenseless and in the process getting more and more people killed.

President Obama went on a rampage early on his administration to release the inmates at the marine base of Guantanamo Bay. Just recently one of those released master minded the killing of 30 Jews on a bus in Bulgaria. As a matter of fact, many of those released from Guantanamo Bay have gone right back to their terrorist ways. You have got to love this following story. Only 16% of released Guantanamo detainees go back to terrorism. The liberal agenda is taking comfort in the idea that only 16% are killing and maiming others. Oh! Well! As long as it is for the greater good maybe it is worth it.

Obama's release of the inmate who went on to kill the Jews and gun control have one thing in common. They emanate from liberal policies that have no regard for the ordinary citizen. The liberal policy is one of death and dying. These policies are designed with a willingness to get people killed as long as the liberal agenda is furthered. It all boils down to sacrificing the individual to the collective aka the greater good. This is very obvious.

Ironically, those Democrats in power believe their entourage should be armed to the teeth so they can be adequately protected but the rest of us out here are expected to take a bullet for the greater good. What rot!

We had a suicide at ours. Guy rented a 9mm and bought a box of ammo.
He shot 49 rounds and then put his left ear up against the bulletproof panel between lanes and shot himself through the right ear. He had a suicide note in his pocket and cash for the rental.

Suicide technically does no count since it is not a massacre.

Somehow I doubt that the issue controlling loss of life in a well armed environment is less depended upon the desires of a psychopath(who in the Colorado case did not expect to get away with it) than their practical ability to carry out the killing.

Simply put In a well armed environment they tend not to get off too many shots before they themselves are taken out. Hence the murder doesn’t rise to the level of mass murder or world wide news. It ends up being a simple shooting that the media tends to mention once locally then bury.

Re: Chicago's violence

The city is a militarized zone and nothing is done whatsoever to empower the individual to defend himself.

How can anyone say that nothing is being done in Chicago to empower the individual. I just saw Rahm Emmanuel on TV the other day, pleading with the gang bangers not to kill each other where there are children around. He asked them to go to the alleys to kill each other. Of course, he came off as a whiny bitch, but I suppose that was to be expected. If it saves a single life...

In Israel (as I understand it), active duty soldiers (which every citizen is required to be at some point) are required to keep their firearm with them at all times.

A common sight in Israel

If there ever was one, it would be hard to find out about now.

Any google search only yields hundreds of versions of "Batman massacre suspect tried to join gun club."

Actually, I do know of a gun fight at a gun club.

In the 1980s, there was and likely still is a Rod and Gun Club at Panzer Kaserne, in Stuttgart, Germany. They also have a small arms range, used by the club, subdivided by dirt berms. A rather pleasant place.

Club membership is not limited to US soldiers, and there are local Germans who pay a small fortune to have and use a licensed gun which after joining the club, they may use at the range.

In any event, there were several “revolverhelden” (German for gunslingers), practicing their quick draws with wired trigger revolvers, in which they tried to fan off five rounds as quickly as possible at targets.

Well, one small group got into an argument with another small group, and they started to shoot at each other. Well, sort of. Both groups hid behind heavy cover and would just stick their hand around either the side or the top and shoot in the general direction of the others.

After several hundred rounds fired, and nobody with so much as a scratch, somebody in authority arrived and told them to cut it out. Then arrested everyone. It being Germany, probably for “Having a gunfight without a license”.

I saw the remains of a crow that perched atop a target at 200 yards.

Mass murder was stopped at a California Gun shop in Santa Clara in 1999. The MSM mostly spiked the story:

Shooting Range Shootout Ends Drama

Updated 11:05 AM ET July 7, 1999

SANTA CLARA, Calif. (Reuters) - A shootout at a California shooting range ended a bizarre
hostage drama during which three gun store employees found themselves staring down the
barrel of one of their own rented rifles, police said Tuesday.

Sgt. Anton Morec of the Santa Clara Police Department said the aspiring gunman, 21-year-old
Richard Gable Stevens, was subdued after tense moments Monday evening at a shooting
range and gun store in this town 30 miles (48 km) south of San Francisco.

“He intended to go out in a blaze of glory,” Morec said, noting Stevens had accumulated more
than 100 rounds of ammunition for his rented 9mm semi-automatic weapon.

“It certainly looks like he intended to take a lot more people out.”

Morec said Stevens arrived at the National Shooting Club Monday evening and rented the rifle
for target practice. The club allows people to rent a range of weapons for use on its own
shooting range.

After several minutes on the range, however, Stevens returned to the club’s gun store and shot
at the ceiling. He then herded three store employees out the door into an alley, saying he
intended to kill them, Morec said.

Unknown to Stevens, one store employee was carrying a .45 caliber handgun concealed
beneath his shirt. When Stevens looked away, the employee fired, hitting Stevens several
times in the chest and bringing him to the ground.

The employee kept his gun trained on Stevens until police arrived, Morec said. When Stevens
refused to comply with police demands that he show his hands, he was shot again with several
rounds of rubber bullets.

Morec said Stevens was taken to a hospital where he was listed in critical condition from the
initial gun wounds. Criminal charges against him were pending.

Police investigating the case believed the quick action by the gun club employee may have
headed off a massacre.

“He was full of rage, and felt he was getting no respect,” Morec said. A suicide note found in
Stevens’ vehicle and addressed to his parents indicated he may have planned to go on a much
broader shooting spree, Morec said.

“Now you’ll spend the rest of your lives fighting lawsuits from my victims’ relatives and die with
only dimes perhaps,” Morec quoted the note as saying.

The reason for the death penalty is to kill off a certain type of killer who does it repeatedly. Even in prison they will kill some innocent person ~ a visitor, a guard, another prisoner.

It's for the good of the species too!

Sometimes it is just plain foolish to go alone to follow a guy around on a dark night in the rain.

It's doubly foolish to do that when, in fact, you've called for help and they are on the way ~ arriving only 15 seconds after you fired your weapon.

Not that anybody you or I know would be foolish ~ but you just never know what's going to happen.

I used to carry around a sharp stainless steel nail on my keychain. Cut holes in my pants pockets but it was there at the ready on those times when I had to hit the mean streets of some strange city at 2AM.

Your best protection, though, is to be wary and stay away from people you don't know, particularly when visibility is limited.

You take a dangerous animal and put it into a cage with other dangerous animals for a couple years - who expects to get out of it a well behaved animal ready to interact peacefully with society?

Prisons are for punishment - not rehabilitation.
