“Graham has traditionally stayed away from “thorny social issues” for years, so this should raise some eyebrows. It’s just not like him.”
Billy Graham for foremost an evangelist interested in converting unbelievers to believers. He avoided social issues because he felt, right of wrong, that they detracted from his primary purpose. Also, he believed (and I understand this), if a person is converted, they will no longer see homosexuality, abortion, etc. as OK.
Now that he no longer crusades, he is just saying what he has always felt. It can no longer detract from his ministry and may leave him with an even better legacy.
I am glad to see him do this. I was so distressed back in the Monica Lewinsky scandal that he didn’t speak out against Bill Clinton and his immoral behavior. It was almost, in my perception, like he didn’t mind. Of course, I know he didn’t really feel that way. However, it did upset me at the time.
I wished there was a Chic-A-Filet in my area....I would be sure to give them my business. I used to eat at one in a previous location where I lived. I always admired how they would stay closed on Sundays and it didn’t hurt their bottom line.
Good grief. Since when did this become a “social issue” in their tiny minds? It’s a moral issue, and he has every right and in fact the duty to say what he wants about it.
Also, why has it suddenly become completely verboten to utter even the mildest disagreement on this subject? I’m stunned at how fast the left and the press are moving to enforce their latest idiocy (”gay marriage”), but I’m also stunned by the overt harshness and barely concealed threat behind their words.
