Obama-Clinton wins big
By Brent Budowsky - 07/25/12 05:47 PM ET

Ernest Hemingway advised young writers to write one true sentence. For the 2012 campaign one true sentence is this: A great nightmare for Republican strategists is that President Obama might pull a “JFK in 1960” and run with Hillary Clinton for vice president. If he does, it will lift the chances of Democrats substantially, bend the curve of history dramatically and give him a chance to reach for historical greatness in his second term.

I have focused on this matter so intensely because I believe the possibilities of this decision are so momentous, the consequences for this election are so enormous, and the state of the union is so precarious as America and the world sail again into stormy economic seas. Consider this column, on this matter, my final summation to the jury of one.

My thesis about the 2012 election is this:

The election will not ultimately be won by the candidate who most aggressively charges: You would be even worse off with my opponent than with me. It will not be won by the candidate who most cleverly asks: Are you better off than you were four years ago? It will be won by the candidate who most convincingly answers: Here is how you will be better off four years from now.

I have supported the president’s tough campaign against Mitt Romney. But at this moment, in this nation, this is not enough. If the remaining months of the 2012 campaign are conducted with the two-way negativity that is so repellent and obnoxious to voters who hunger for a roadmap to a better future, America will be doomed to four more years of dysfunctional and discredited government and politics of antagonism and gridlock.

As Michael Douglas said in “The American President”: These are serious times. They demand serious solutions. They require serious people. It is not enough for politicians to tell us why we should be afraid and whom we should blame.

America needs leaders with the clarity and courage to show us a better way. America needs a president who can govern with some mandate and authority, and a Congress that can act with some collegiality and functionality. In my view, that president should be Barack Obama and that mandate and roadmap become more clear and achievable if he runs with Hillary Clinton.

Obviously Hillary increases enthusiasm, excitement and turnout for Democrats in an election that could be decided by turnout. Hillary substantially increases Democratic fundraising in an election that could be decided by money. Hillary would help elect more Democrats to the House and Senate in a government that must break the gridlock for any president to govern effectively.

Obviously, Barack Obama would bend the curve of history by bringing the first woman to the vice presidency, thrilling countless women across the nation and around the world while reassuring voters, male and female, young and old, from Florida to Ohio.

President Obama has already begun to build his legacy. He led the economic battle that prevented a new global depression. He turned a financial crash into renewed job creation. He sowed the seeds for improved healthcare and clean energy. He fiercely defended America and courageously gave the order to kill our No. 1 enemy. He did this despite opponents who obstruct all progress, tolerate a politics of hate and fervently hope his presidency fails even if their partisanship imposes pain on the nation.

President Kennedy, in one of his first televised news conferences in 1961, spoke of pay equity for women. Think about that. I propose that President Obama, Hillary Clinton and all Democrats promise and wage a four-year legacy battle to create full pay equity for all women and to bring the words “full employment” back to the center of our national discourse, national mission and national life.

I think that wins more votes than Mitt Romney singing. Don’t you?

“give him a chance to reach for historical greatness in his second term”

If bobo is forced into doing this, and they win (PLEASE, NO!) it will no doubt be turned into the third term of the clintoon presidency.

One way ... or the other.

Given the play out of these past four years, I think Hil, Bill and Barry should be focused firmly on staying out of Leavenworth. There are a lot of really irritated people out here.

So Brent Budowsky is basically admitting Obama doesn’t have a snow ball’s chance in Hell without Hillary on the ticket. This is nothing more than one big trip into a delusional fantasy that is reassuring so the Left will not all commit mass suicide in anticipation of their massive loss of power in these elections.

Obozo still will not nominate Der Hilderbeast, because if elected she would kill him to become president.

Nonsense article. Biden is not why Obama is having so much difficulty and replacing him still leaves Obama as the problem.

If Clinton has any asperations to become president she will have ONE shot at it and running as number 2 on a ticket takes any control of the campaign away from her. Also Obama is not exactly a fan of the Clintons. Any move at this time to replace Biden will be seen as one made in desperation.

The stink of fear never does a candidate any good.

Sounds like Hillary Clinton should RESIGN and go home and take care of her husband...he looks like death sucking on a life saver...

saw an article while standing in line at a Giant Eagle store today...said Hillary was going to quit the first of the year and file for divorce and make a fresh new life with another female as her partner, and Bill would not live to see Chelsea’s baby...didn’t know Chelsea was pregnant!!! if not she better get busy, for the old dude looks bad..

anyone seen him about lately??? maybe he really is as bad as the Globe had him pictured..
oh well..

won’t VOTE for another Clinton no matter what...one was more than enough...Hillary may want people to think she is brilliant..but she is about as brilliant a lawyer as Michelle..

Who knows what the Obamas and the Clintons have cooked up to ensure the best possible outcome in all of this? On the face of it, Clinton would be better off if Romney won, because after another four years of Obama, no Democrat could get elected. But this is coming from someone who lives in a rational world. Obama could ask Hillary to join the ticket, with the agreement that he resign in two years making her president. We don’t know any of this. In the absence of insider knowledge, we can’t even speculate about such things. It’s nothing more than a parlor game.

Who’s Brent Budowsky? He has assured himself a place in the history of laughable comments by writing “bend the curve of history dramatically and give him a chance to reach for historical greatness in his second term.”...I guess that’s true if you’re cheering for a once-great nation to transition from being a free republic to communism.

President Obama has already begun to build his legacy. He led the economic battle that prevented a new global depression. He turned a financial crash into renewed job creation. He sowed the seeds for improved healthcare and clean energy.

This is known as the big lie. If you buy this then you can buy voting for Obama, since people won't believe this obvious fiction the author sweetens the pot with Clinton as VP. An Obama - Clinton Ticket would win no matter how bad a President Obama has been.

I can. On the other hand, I fail to see the analogy of Obama-Hillary Clinton to “JFK in 1960.” Are they saying that Hillary is the master of pushing legislation through the Senate like LBJ was? I didn’t get that.

If Obama says Joe’s off the ticket, he’s off the ticket.

Presidents who have dumped VP’s:

1976: Ford-Dole vice Rockefeller
1944: Roosevelt-Truman vice Wallace
1940: Roosevelt-Wallace vice Garner
1900: McKinley-Roosevelt vice Hobart (died 1899)
1892: Harrison-Reid vice Morton
1888: Cleveland-Thurman vice Hendricks (died 1885)
1872: Grant-Wilson vice Colfax
1864: Lincoln-Johnson vice Hamlin
1832: Jackson-Van Buren vice Calhoun
1808: Madison-Gerry vice Clinton

This guy must have been a cheerleader in high school, because this "article" is nothing more than a GO TEAM! WE CAN STILL WIN!

Obviously, Barack Obama would bend the curve of history by bringing the first woman to the vice presidency, thrilling countless women across the nation and around the world while reassuring voters, male and female, young and old, from Florida to Ohio.

And that in a nutshell is why i believe democrat politicians and the democrat-controlled press have gone so viciously after Gov. Palin. They desperately don't want the other side to "bend the curve of history by bringing the first woman to the vice presidency."

With good reason too. For once the false stereotype of the Republican Party/conservatives being prejudiced against women and minorities is shattered, so too will be the power that liberals currently enjoy.

Ernest Hemingway advised young writers to write one true sentence.

Obama, with Joe or with Hillary, is a one-term president.

As you note, the line "Obviously Hillary increases enthusiasm" is a gut-buster.

She looks like a bag of laundry and sounds like a fishwife.

The author blows through seven-hundred words in a speech which sounded better in the shower.

In truth, the match-up is a non-starter.

Obama stabbed Hillary in more places than Julius Caesar.

He would never share a ticket with such an ambitious, bitter player.

Whereas she had a following in 2008, that was eons ago, before he burned all the bridges and trampled on her posters with prancing patent leather toe shoes.

He is now widely despised and she looks beyond bad--waiting for 2016 to challenge Mitt, Obama being a lump in the ash heap of history by then.

The class warfare will fail and the red and the black will be gone noon January 20 of next year.
