More than half of Californians say they know nothing about landmark global-warming law

California's landmark global-warming bill was a white-hot topic in the 2010 governor's race and remains former Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's signature environmental achievement.

But as the state prepares to unroll the law's cap-and-trade program in November with the first state auctions of emissions permits, a new poll finds that 57 percent of Californians say they have never heard anything about the program.

The statewide poll by the Public Policy Institute of California further found that 30 percent of respondents said they had heard "a little," while just 12 percent said they had heard "a lot."

"Cap-and-trade is a very complicated issue to the average Californian," said Mark Baldassare, president and CEO of the PPIC. "It's not something that has been at the center of attention for them. Connecting the dots between cap-and-trade and global warming continues to be a challenge for policy makers."

The cap-and-trade program sets lower limits on companies' greenhouse gas emissions and allows those who emit less than their cap to sell permits to those who exceed their limits.

Californians. They make better pets if you get them fixed.

How does getting them fixed stop them from leaving steaming piles of Marxi-turd all over the carpet?

What alternative are you proposing (if any)? Would you rather Obama be President for 4 more years?

No, he's probably pining for a "Republican" party that would run an actual conservative. God forbid.

Agreed....lol

I believe the place to get them “fixed” may not be at a medical facility but at a taxidermy.

John and Ken lost me when they donned their Hollywood kneepads and went full in on supporting Schwarzenegger and his ‘cutting up the credit cards’ b@ll@cks. They downplayed the chances of McClintock from very early on when their support could have really made a difference. They have reaped what they helped sow. More shame on the California GOP for pushing Arnie on us in the first place when Bustamante was clearly such a weak opponent.

I voted for McClintock.
Then moved to Arizona.

What’s the alternative? Darned if I know. The Corrupt Bastards Club, as the RINOs in Alaska were appropriately named, hasn’t given us any alternative.

I’m still praying that some alternative will raise its head before November, but the odds of that happening are getting less each day.

No conservative with a conscience could vote for either of these corrupt baby killers.

I'll be voting for Romney and I my conscience is clear. I also support the alliance we entered into with Stalin during WWII, the Taliban against Russia in Afganistan, Saddam Husein against Iran, etc.

Liberals often turn a blind eye to genocide for fear of "compromising their values" when ruthless dictators need to be nuetralized. They also sit silent when women are stoned or beheaded for being raped in Muslim countries. Hypocracy is misrepresenting your policital priorities as values.

I have conservative values that will not change. My priority is stopping the destructive governance of this nation at the hands of Barack Obama.

My sitting at home (not voting) to show John Boener I am not satisfied with Romney as our primary candidate would be akin to liberals sitting silent on the atrocities against women in Muslim countries while simultaneously supporting abortion as a form of convenient birth control in the name of "Women's Rights."

Most eligible Americans don’t vote. Why should California be any different?
