McCarthy was MUCH maligned by the left. Some of this methods were annoying (to left and right), but more so because for a time they were effective. There were and still are plenty of communists and marxists in positions of high govt power, even more so today than in McCarthy's day. McCarthy's image should be restored and his efforts vindicated...
