A Mitt Romney loss wouldn’t necessarily be a disaster
The Daily Caller ^ | August 3, 2012 | Matt K. Lewis

Posted on 08/03/2012 1:26:47 PM PDT by Bratch

Don’t buy the doom and gloom pronouncements from conservatives telling you, “this is the most important election in history.” A loss for Mitt Romney would not necessarily spell long lasting disaster for Republicans, nor would it be the death-knell to conservatism. In fact, it’s possible a 2012 loss could lay the groundwork for a stronger Republican party and conservative movement.

Elections are almost always seen as urgent and morally imperative. But sometimes major victories can only come in the aftermath of what appear to be devastating defeats. John Kerry‘s loss in 2004 laid the groundwork for a Democratic takeover in 2006 and 2008, and Jimmy Carter‘s defeat of Gerald Ford in 1976 paved the way for the Ronald Reagan in 1980. In other words, it is a mistake to assume losing a presidential election is a permanent defeat.

“This should be the most important election since 1980, but so far it is not,” says Reagan biographer Craig Shirley. “Scottish historian Thomas Carlyle postulated the ‘great man’ theory of history, and indeed this was true with Washington, Jackson, Lincoln, TR, FDR and Reagan. But history has not summoned forth great men in 2012 and in fact our history today is small.”

This is not to say Republicans should concede the election, but conservatives should keep November in proper perspective.

“You lack the backbone to make a decision between the two candidates and rationalize you failure. You have ultimately become irrelevant because of your failure to decide between the two”

LOL, yeah, because a vote for Mittens, a known pathological liar and enemy of our cause, because you don’t want to admit that Obama is essentially the same guy, and therefore you have no real power over your own government, is the courageous vote.

Many of them are here shilling for Ron Paul.

They will never say who they are for , because they can’t.

They can’t say who of the starters they supported , for that very reason.

Good job to all on that Cruz win.

Isn't interesting, the state controlled media keeps trying to write off the Tea Party, and the Tea Party keeps winning.

It's a bone in their collective throats.

Who do yo support as an alternative to Mitt?

At this point, Goode. That is subject to change between now and November, depending on if I can find a more conservative candidate that will be on my ballot.

I certainly won't be voting for the top two liberals on the ballot.

***Horse manure

“If the next one doesn’t govern any better (a huge if at this point), then I will work to remove him as well.”

No you won’t, just admit it. If Mittens wins, you will be voting for him a second time 4 years later because, you’ll say, Hillary is slightly worse.

Looks like he'll be on my ballot in November. That makes him a candidate, whether you like it or not.

How many ways can we explain to these folks that we have run out of time? This is it! We must vote this guy out now.
Hogwash indeed!

If the only thing a Romney election gets us is the death of Obama care I’ll be happy.
***Obamacare is based on Romneycare. Just how ignorant are you?

Conservatives’ choices are Virgil Goode of the CP and Tom Hoefling, who I have pinged to you here. Of the two, my personal choice is Tom, whom I have corresponded with and for whom I can vote with a clear conscience.

Looks like I just answered that.

Replace Barack with Romney and the Presidency becomes more conservative. Only the most die hard Romney detractors could argue with that.

If Romney governs as liberally as his past suggests he might, then lets replace him as well the next time around with someone even more conservative in the Primary.

While I admit that electing Romney is a potential threat to the conservative cause, re-electing Obama is without a doubt a threat to the entire country.

“Like I said, as a rule FR noobs should be rarely seen or heard.
You talk too much. Learn to be still.
No one on this site wants to listen to your daffy shilling for Obama.”

That must be why you keep shilling for Mittens and the GOPe in response to my posts, telling me how much you don’t care about them.

Go and vote for Obama, you know you want to..
***Obama thanks you for all the discord you have sown among conservatives, rather than focusing on converting 0bots to mittbots.

“The only thing that bugs me about Mittens voters is that they refuse to admit that they are voting for a liberal.”

I am voting for a liberal. I am also voting AGAINST the MARXIST.

Do you honestly not see the difference between a liberal and a Marxist? Or do you not believe Obama is a Marxist?

You won’t answer this:

If you vote for Mittens you are voting for a gun-grabbing, socialist health-care system promoting, abortions for fifty dollars enabler who is a gay marriage supporter and big gov. lover. Yes or no?

Spare me the why. Yes or no?

Newsflash: You're just a noob. No one really cares what you think. Four more years of Obama. Yeah, that sounds like a plan, Mastermind.

Yep. They forget about things called posting history. Sign up in April (after the primary is over) and claim you are too conservative for Romney... yet don't jump on any threads where it's solely criticism of Obama, i.e jobs reports, gaffes, etc.
