Interesting, if kinda scary, article. I think Romney’s chances are considerably better than Tomasky’s take, though I also think any Romney victory is likely going to be close, electorally speaking.
I’ve been saying for months we need to get any notion of a 1980-esque GOP landslide out of our heads. The numbers, and the demographics, just aren’t there. A victorious Mitt Romney will probably have something closer to Dubya’s 2004 EV win than anything else.
As for an Obama landslide...it could happen, but I really don’t think it will. This isn’t 2008, and Romney, flawed though he is, is fighting far harder than McCain ever did. It may not be enough, but I think it will be close right up until the end.
No chance of an Obama landslide but there is a chance of a Romney landslide. Unfortunately, way too many Conservatives are reluctant to vote so it will be close and Obama just might squeak by. If that happens, we will need some heavenly help to survive.
