Trotta: "Double Standard" On Media Treatment Of Ann Romney And Jackie O
RealClearPolitics ^ | August 5, 2012 | RealClearPolitics

Liz Trotta: When Ann Romney showed up at the Olympics equestrian competition in London's Greenwich Park last week, the media scrum around her would lead some to believe that Michael Phelps had dropped in.

Mrs. Romney was there to watch her horse, Rafalca, compete in dressage, once the sport of ancient kings. The uninitiated call it 'horse ballet.' Rafalca, a German-bred mare, didn't miss a pirouette as her patron cheered and pronounced the performance constant and elegant.

Some would say not unlike her mistress, Ann Romney, is not to be taken lightly. Perhaps that's why President Obama's political operatives, most of them women of the left, have the knives out for her, casting the potential first lady of the United States as a modern day Marie Antoinette, out of touch with common folk.

How about all those summer races up on Cape Code? Some time ago I attended one and actually saw a Kennedy rider fall off her horse. It was big news, but laced with the extra sensitivity the media usually employees when dealing with Knights and ladies in the court of Camelot.

This will infuriate horse owners everywhere. I mean that they are making it look like owning a horse or riding dressage is snooty and upper class and out of touch.

As the election gets closer and if the result remains in doubt, we can fully expect the Obama campaign and its media allies that pretend to be “journalists” to start exploring Mormonism as a cult. The same media never gave Richard Nixon the slightest credit for putting an opponent’s religion offlimits will scream with delight in cooking up and spreading every false and defamatory story possible about Romney and his religion.

I have always maintained that wives and kids are always, and perpetually, off limits. I pretty much don’t care what they do or say. Off limits ALWAYS.

The only exceptions would be where they actively run for, or hold public office i.e. Hillary.

“”its media allies that pretend to be “journalists” to start exploring Mormonism as a cult.””

And because of the “sensitive” nature of obozo’s religion, no one will DARE to counter why he bends over for terorists or his backing of the Muslim Brotherhood.

The big difference between Jackie O and Ann Romney is that Jackie’s husband was quite arguably a Conservative.

Still, ya’gotta’ admit there are very few stories about LDS that are both “defamatory and false”. Through the years LDS type Mormon spokesmen have said quite enough to give anyone pause.

I agree.
I may loath Obama, but the hatred of the first lady on this site has been disgusting and outright racist. Wives and kids off limits, period, always (yes, no matter *HOW* much the candidate utilizes them). I couldn’t care less about dressage, and think it is both a symptom of a messed up tax code and not really the best of ethics to take tax deductions for the horse, but the Romneys are within the letter of the law, so be it.

Well, I don’t agree. I wouldn’t have said anything about how hideous Mrs Zero is if the media hadn’t been hailing her as a fashion icon to rival Jackie Kennedy. And when you use your husband’s job and position to appear on tv talk shows to tell people what to eat, and when you use taxpayer’s money for lavish vacations - then, you’re asking for it.

Naturally I will argue that. I’ve never thought of any Kennedy as a conservative.

Michelle Obama has behaved, spoken and dressed poorly. She is the First Lady and thus has an obligation not to bring shame or ridicule to that office. She has done that, not just in this country but when visiting other countries and other dignitaries. In addition to not living up to her responsibilities and has insulted our country, its people and its flag. She has earned every criticism.

What's not to like.

Michelle has a large butt ~ very typical of a broad spectrum of black women ~ it's in the genes.

Western dress doesn't fit them well.

I don't criticize any woman for having a big butt.

the kennedy’s are GONE. they were and aren’t the only ones who were “allowed” to enjoy their lives and their sports. Anne Romney will do well... she is a nice lady with a beautiful family and she has struggled with health issues that were serious.

She has a lot going for her and can ignore the boneheads who have nothing beter to do
