While Mitt Romneys favorability ratings among voters climbed after the Republican primaries, theyve remained virtually unchanged, at 40 percent, since May, a new Washington Post-ABC News poll shows.
And as his favorability rating remains flat, his negatives have inched up. The poll shows that 49 percent have a negative view of the former Massachusetts governor, up from 45 percent. President Obama fairs better: 53 percent have a favorable opinion and 43 percent unfavorable...

This Romney guy simply has too much baggage.
The problem with Romney is he does not know how to fight. He just does not get it that he has to cut King Obama down and use a hard quick response to the lying ads he is hit with. If it was Newt, he would have trashed King Obama so hard this nitwit would fold. Hopefully Romney will wake up.
"That is the key issue in this race," he said. "For Romney to be able to make a convincing argument and to win the election, he's going to have to have a fairly significant lead over Obama on that measure."
Romney says his experience in business will turn around this economy. Problem is, he's not providing anything specific (anything of substance) which describes how he will do it.
So, I've been seeing a couple of Romneybots in the neighborhood talking with undecideds.
Romney Supporter: "Governor Romney has the business experience to turn around the economy"
Undecided: "What will he do to do that?"
Romney Supporter: "He will. He just will. He has the experience to do it"
Undecided: "But what will he do. What's his plan?"
Romney Supporter: "Duh, I don't know how. Do you want four more years of this? Romney has the business experience to turn around this economy. If you want to know how just go to his website and read about his plan or you can buy the book on Amazon."
Undecided: "But I'm 83 years old. I don't have the internet."
Note to Romney people:: You gotta do better than that.
But, the unfavorables for the Kenyan are deeply unfavorable. Grand Canyon like unfavorable.
Mitt can move the needle.
He’s never really cared whether the people liked him. He just knows in his heart that its his turn and the people will just have to STFU and deal with it.
I have always gotten the impression that Romney just wants to be president. Not because he thinks he can fix things or because he wants to serve his country, just because he wants to be president. I’ll vote for him, but it will be painful. I still can’t believe this is the best the republicans could come up with. It’s really quite depressing.
And then there’s the social issues that mean a lot to a lot of people but Team Romney says they don’t.
But you are essentially correct...Romney has to set his hair on fire once or twice...as he said he would not do in the past....
Sample plus 18% Democrats I recall reading a similar response back in 2008 McCain vs Obama.
How'd that work out for you?
Not sure if that's what Romney thinks but you certainly described how many of those who supported him from the beginning act in political forums.
Sadly they acted out the same way for their guy McCain 4 years ago.
Did no good at all. Roosevelt, for all his worts, looked like a man of subtance compared to Willkie. Mopped the floor with Willkie!
Most of the country still isn’t even paying attention, until after the Conventions are over.
NEVER, NEVER, NEVER has there been such over-sampling of demos.
NEVER BEFORE.
