The draft language in the Democratic Party platform endorsing marriage equality has been revealed and shown to say “we support marriage equality” is set to become a tenet of the party’s beliefs.
In addition to endorsing marriage equality, the language also calls for repeal of the Defense of Marriage Act and urges passage of DOMA repeal legislation known as the Respect for Marriage Act. Notably, the language explicitly backs religious freedom for marriage, saying religions should “decide how to administer marriage as a religious sacrament without government interference.”
Buzzfeed was first to make the language public ahead of the scheduled meeting of the full platform committee in Detroit. The Washington Blade confirmed the language is accurate through two sources familiar with the drafting process.
The full language reads:
“We support the right of all families to have equal respect, responsibilities, and protections under the law. We support marriage equality and support the movement to secure equal treatment under law for same-sex couples. We also support the freedom of churches and religious entities to decide how to administer marriage as a religious sacrament without government interference.”
“We oppose discriminatory federal and state constitutional amendments and other attempts to deny equal protection of the laws to committed same-sex couples who seek the same respect and responsibilities as other married couples. We support the full repeal of the so-called Defense of Marriage Act and the passage of the Respect for Marriage Act.”
This weekend in Detroit, the full platform committee will discuss the draft platform and have the opportunity to submit proposed amendments, which need to be approved by a majority of the committee voting and present. The platform will then be presented to convention delegates Charlotte, N.C., for the Democratic National Convention.
Chad Griffin, president of the Human Rights Campaign, urged the committee to adopt the plank pertaining to marriage equality as part of the Democratic platform.
“Marriage equality has quickly become a mainstream American value and it’s a sign of the times that the Democratic Party has included language affirming the ability of gays and lesbians to marry in its draft platform,” Griffin said. “We encourage the Platform Committee and the delegates to the convention to adopt this strong statement that all loving and committed American families deserve equal treatment.”
Additional LGBT platform draft language has been revealed stating the Democratic Party’s commitment to passage of the Employment Non-Discrimination Act. The language also touts previous accomplishments, such as “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” repeal and passage of the hate crimes protections law.
As with the marriage language, the additional LGBT language was first reported by Buzzfeed. The Washington Blade confirmed with a source familiar with the platform drafting process that the language is accurate.
“We know that putting America back to work is job one, and we are committed to ensuring Americans do not face employment discrimination. We support the Employment Non-Discrimination Act because people should not be fired based on their sexual orientation or gender identity.”
“President Obama and the Democratic Party are committed to ensuring all Americans are treated fairly. This administration hosted the first-ever White House Conference on Bullying Prevention and we must continue our work to prevent vicious bullying of young people and support LGBT youth. The President’s record, from ending ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’ in full cooperation with our military leadership, to passing the Matthew Shepard and James Byrd Jr. Hate Crimes Prevention Act, to ensuring same-sex couples can visit each other in the hospital, reflects Democrats’ belief that all Americans deserve the same chance to pursue happiness, earn a living, be safe in their communities, serve their country, and take care of the ones they love.”
Well here’s the problem, and it’s a big one. The only people that care are those that were going to vote Romney anyway. This just isn’t going to make any difference.
When I was a Prosecutor, the key in trying any case is to think as the other side thinks. Well . . . those that are not us just don’t care and the polls are rocketing in their direction on this issue. While this is disgusting, to be sure, at the end of the day, it just doesn’t matter and won’t in the election. Any base energy will be a wash.

There is marriage equality the Democrats are so stupid (or evil)-—there is no special rights for Sodomites.
There is a reason why words have meaning and the Marxists pursue destruction of the language-—It is to control the ideas and perceptions of people as “Good Germans” knew you could do in the 1800’s.
Control words-—you control thought. (Association evokes “feelings”).
It is why we even talk about homosexual “marriage” which is an oxymoron and silly, ugly concept—an impossibility-—insane—irrational concept for over 3000 years.
So, after the Pavlovian conditioning-—and association-—the cognitive dissonance will create insane law——there is ALREADY marriage equality-—all males and females have the same right to marry the opposite sex. And each can only marry one-—equality of the sexes!!! even in the US.
It also is the best guarantee of children being raised by their biological parents-—their Natural Right and which is proven best for their general welfare. The government has an interest to protect the Rights of Babies—although they haven’t.
Marriage is defined and the Marxists have no right to change definitions that were in our legal dictionary for centuries when they are well-reasoned and determine the best welfare for nurturing children and for people to do their duty which is to raise and care for their biological offspring.
That Duty is the most fundamental of all duties-—to care for your own offspring-—and not be able to sell them to artificial homes like they are trinkets and inhuman==not needing a loving mother and father to develop in a natural way—the way Designed by nature’s God.
And the major issue-—Natural Law Theory says NONSENSE to sodomy-—it is a Vice and unnatural——and Just Laws preclude promoting Vice. Can’t do it in a country ruled by Laws where there is a Higher Power than just man-made Hitler-like laws.
The entire world was rife with homosexuality which always included rampant pederasty, since it is learned and modeled—and it took Christianity to rid the world of those evil practices along with slavery and women having no worth—because they were just breeders. Even in those pederastic societies—they STILL HAD MARRIAGE as WE KNOW IT—they just thought it was moral for men to have recreation with other men and boys—it was Good—their Worldview much like it still is in Afghanistan. We can not warp the minds of our young boys like the worldview of the Afghani boys who love sodomy— by recreating Greek and Afghani lifestyles with force of law which is really sick and destroys the freedom of religious thought since children will be forced to see homosexuality modeled and normalized like it was in Ancient times in Greece.
Forcing a Vice with Law is unconstitutional and Fascist.
Homosexual “marriage” is irrational and immoral. Reason is the fundamental, necessary component of all laws, along with Rights derived from God and the Laws of Nature (Moral Law), not Barney Frank or Satan.
Then why has same-sex marriage NEVER won a ballot initiative? They couldn’t even win in California until the state supreme court stepped in, same for Iowa. Only through government fiat has homosexual marriage been adopted. Were you around last week when MILLIONS of people flooded Chick-fil-A restaurants to show their support?

What is genuinely unfair is that 98% of people who have sex with a certain other gender get no special protections under the law as a class of person. The dems passed Obama are for the 10% of people without care, how about showing the hypocrisy at work here against the 98% of heterosexuals?

Incrementalism. They always start slowly, by saying that they are for religious freedom for marriage. Eventually they will take that away and force everyone to accept homosexual marriage. The next step is to gradually lower the age of consent to 12 years. Ultimately removing all age limits, as long as it is consensual. This is their main goal, to legally establish adult-child sex in society. Do not be fooled that giving them homosexual marriage will satisfy their sexual lust. They will keep pushing to remove all sexual barriers and taboos until there are no laws protecting children from homosexuals.
