Reid aide divulges details on source of Romney tax claim -- then retracts

After days of silence on Harry Reid's disputed claim that Mitt Romney hasn't paid taxes for a decade, a top aide finally spilled details on the supposed source of the allegation -- only to issue a wholesale retraction of those details by Thursday evening.
Reid aide Jose Parra first made the claims in an interview on Los Angeles' KTLK radio, defending his boss' decision to trumpet the tax charge last week on the Senate floor and explaining a bit about the source.
"This person is an investor in Bain Capital, a Republican also, and somebody ... who has been dealing with Romney's company for a long, long time and he has direct knowledge on this," Parra said.
Parra's statement comes after Romney, in an interview with Fox News, challenged Reid to identify his source.
However, after some media attention on Parra's radio interview, Parra issued a statement taking those remarks back.
"I do not know the party affiliation of the source, how long he invested with Bain, or his relationship to Romney beyond the fact that he was an investor with Bain Capital, as Senator Reid has previously stated," he said.

Good Grief! Is there any chance on God’s green earth that the IRS hasn’t already gone over Romney’s taxes going back to the birth of Christ and if anything was found would have been front covered in the NYT’s by now?
To me this is like repeatedly saying Romney has black hair, then when we find out he has black hair his poll numbers will fall.
In other words, I don’t care. With the threat of war, a depression, socialism, terrorism - I don’t give a rat’s rear how much tax Romney paid. It’s meaningless. I might give him a reward if he paid no taxes.
We’re just being set up with this. Democrats invent issues, like denying women contraception.
IMO, it’s probably just to keep the issue in the news.

So this guy has just admitted that he's a liar, and that we should look up if he tells us that the sky is blue. Which is it - does he not know anything, or does he know that his boss is a lying sack of shiite?
The ONLY reason that we keep hearing about this issue, and the claim that the Republicans are engaged in a "war against women" and all of the other smears and wild accusations that have been thrown around is because Obama and his minions don't want to talk about his record of massive failure (or, more likely, success in destroyiing the US economy, weakening us overseas and destroying our liberties - that's what America-hating Communists DO).
Romney and the Republicans need to constant respond as follows: "Well, there they/he go/goes again! Why is it that when we have the worst economy in 80 years, with no real signs of recovery, that they/he only want to talk about issues of minor or no importance to the American people? The answer is simple - he/they DON'T want to talk about the massive failures of this administration. However, we NEED to talk about those, and about real solutions for our national problems - so if you'd like to discuss those issues, that's why I'm here."
There is no possible scenario in which Mitt Romney “paid no taxes” for any of ten years, let alone a period of UNINTERRUPTEDLY failure to pay taxes for ten years.
If nothing else, something called “Alternative Minimum Tax” would have kicked in. But you may be assured, that any strategy that Mitt Romney used to avoid taxation was strictly governed by the revelant section of the admittedly highly confusing IRS tax code.
Certain bond issues, for example, are NOT subject to Federal income tax on the interest paid, as an inducement to invest in certain infrastructure improvements deemed to be of pressing need, thus making the lower interest rate offered a better deal than a higher rate of return subject to taxation. If Harry Reid does not like this little loophole in tax law, then write it out.
But look out for the backlash to that.
I believe it. I predict that Romney will release his taxes at a time that will be most politically expedient. Apparently, he is still letting Reid and his minions hang themselves. I also predict that when he does release his records, there will be no period in which Romney paid no taxes, and then Reid will have to cough up his source. If Reid's aide hadn't retracted, then he would have to find someone who is a known Republican, long time Bain investor and Romney associate as his 'source'.
Nobody in that tax bracket gets away. They go out of their way to pay, just to keep the IRS wolves away........
...and he smells.
Remember how he groused about how tourists in the summertime smelled?

Funny and sad, because it could be true.
Actually, reading Romney’s life history, the RAT’s may soon modify their “no tax” claim, to that he paid no “employment related taxes.
He refused to take income as the Head of the Olympics, so that’s a few years; he refused to take income while Gov. of Massachusetts, so that’s four years; he earned no income as an aide for his father’s election, so that’s a year, and a few years in there he was working for the Mormon church, where he earned no income.
So there may be ten years where he had no earned income, only investment income.
