Would be interesting to hear from the Social Security folks.
I assume most of the time (unless there is Chicago type fraud) when a person dies, their account is closed?
Then suddenly years later SS “payroll tax” contributions start coming in under that number.
No red flags?
“MCSO’s Jeff Sprong says the vitamin distribution business employed as many as 21 suspects using false identifications to secure employment. Two suspects were using social security numbers belonging to dead persons, Sheriff Joe Arpaio said.”
Somebody needs to raid a big white mansion in DC and arrest one of the occupants for using the social security number of a dead man.
“Then suddenly years later SS payroll tax contributions start coming in under that number.
No red flags?”
Why would the government want to investigate money coming in?
It came out a few years ago that the IRS runs a "shadow" system so they can accommodate taking payroll taxes from multiple payers on the same SS#. They know the name and address (from the filing) of everyone in the US that is paying taxes with a SS# not issued to them. What do they do? They keep the data secret and keep taking the money.
