From Boston to Janesville (Drudge FALSE ALARM: "Romney plane parked in Paul Ryan's hometown..."
NRO's The Corner ^ | August 10, 2012 | Robert Costa

Take note, veep watchers: Earlier today, a charter plane took off in Boston, stopped in Chicago, then flew to the tiny airport in Janesville, Wis. Janesville, of course, is the hometown of Representative Paul Ryan, a top vice-presidential contender. According to a source on the ground, the plane is still in Wisconsin.

Tomorrow morning, Mitt Romney will visit the U.S.S. Wisconsin in Norfolk, Va. For what it’s worth, Ryan is scheduled to be on vacation in Colorado.

Posted to make clear that this is a **false alarm**.

This aircraft stops in Janesville, WI frequently and has for months; there's no real reason to think it has any connection to the Romney campaign.

Where are you getting the ‘false alarm’ signal?

From the fact that this aircraft visits Janesville every few days and has done so since at least April. The mere fact of it visiting Janesville and Boston within a couple days of each other is NOT evidence of a Paul Ryan pick; there is simply no evidence to suggest that it has any connection with the Romney campaign.

So I'm not *getting* the "false alarm" signal; I'm *giving* it.

Everything’s got to be someplace. Janesville is as good a place as any if you’ve got to be somewhere.

The real question is why this plane has been identified with Romney. Anybody know the tail number?

Especially since Tagg Romney was in WI today with Ryan per this tweet that the update links to: Tagg Romney ‏@tromney In Milwaukee today along w #RepPaulRyan and #GovWalker to represent my family and offer condolences to the Sikh community Besides, it would be too good to be true for Romney to make a bold pick like Ryan.

I hope Romney picks Rubio! Rubio would bring in more Hispanic votes who other wise would vote for the black jesus! I don't give a rats butt what anyone else thinks about Rubio, but he is the only one among Romney's list that would excite the Hispanic community and a good majority of that voting block would vote for Mitt...I know what I'm speaking of! I guarantee it!!

Anybody know the tail number?

The only a/c from the Chicago area earlier today into Janesville, of the aircraft that flew IFR, is an SR-22. This is a 4-seater, and not likely a charter. FWIW, not much, it's N847MC. Perhaps it was VFR, in which case I can't look it up...

Ooops, forget my last post. There *IS* a jet that went from
the Chicago area into Janesville. N26SC is a Raytheon Hawker 800, and flew out of Midway.

Why would he choose Ryan?

Romney himself has plenty of business acumen. He needs someone to bring something else to the table.

N26SC is registered to SC Aviation, a Janesville, WI company that provides Charter flights to many corporations and interests. Of course it has visited Janesville many times the last few weeks. That’s where it is headquartered.

Does anyone really have a link between it and the Romney campaign?

Oops

"Oops," what? I was right - this airplane had nothing to do with the Ryan pick. I never said (or even implied) that Ryan wasn't the pick; just that this airplane was unrelated. There are several stories out there about how the Romney campaign kept the pick secret and how Ryan's travel was arranged, and this airplane was not involved.
